This cooking class is presented to you who have keen interest in authentic Balinese food and culture. Here you will learn to cook well-known local dishes in a relaxed and friendly environment. This small classes (only 4-12 people) are held in a traditional open kitchen, and led by certified Balinese cooks, making for a highly personalized and rewarding experience.
The class starts with a visit to a local traditional market to buy fresh ingredients. On this experience you’ll feel the real Balinese culture as you experience its rich of tradition and the unique flavors and smells. You'll then prepare a complete 5-course set lunch which will be served after the class.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
A maximum of 6 people per booking, but the class can accommodate 12 participant
The duration is approximately 6 hours from pickup till drop off

Start this experience with pickup from your accommodation, then direct visit to traditional market to take advantages of cooler outdoor temperature to buy all of cooking needs. At the traditional market you will get a great chance to see the real Balinese culture and lifestyle. This visit will give you an experiences of how Balinese people spend their time before cooking. Next, your guide will introducing some well-grown herbs and spices in our organic garden is an extra experience before you start the lesson at Balinese Kitchen. You are taught to process the food with traditional utensils and techniques. Paste and sauce preparation is one of the most interesting and important aspects of Balinese cooking, with two types of way Balinese spices preparations, chopped on a wooden chopping block and ground in a stone mortar before being cooked in a variety of ways of Balinese dish. All prep work and cooking are hands-on experiences, performed entirely by you. After the class finish, you will then enjoy the lunch which all the dishes made by your own. Finish your lunch and getting ready to be drop off to the original pickup point as the end of this experience.

Excellent day spent at Lesung Cooking School…Starting with Hotel pickup, morning tour of local market where Ron explained the different vegetables and fruit and some of the Balinese traditions and then onto a Commune house for a refreshing morning tea. After this we started out cooking experience which was really enjoyable with Ron as our experienced Chef and Ketuk his Assistant. We first off made a Paste which was the basis of all our dishes…chicken, fish, tempeh and Sambal. All the dishes were really tasty and it was a great experience all round. Ron was extremely helpful and a great teacher and it was great to have Ketuk to clean up. We would definitely recommend doing this if you want to experience a little bit of the real Bali.

Really enjoyed the experience-learned a lot about Balinese culture and history. The cooking was full on but our efforts were rewarded by a lovely lunch (come hungry as we couldn’t finish it)

My husband and I did this class together, the Driver Yoga picked us up exactly on time and spoke good English. We arrived at a very traditional market place greeted by our guide Nyoman, who escorted us around to show us the Balinese way, he was very informative and friendly. We later went to his family residence to cook in a lovely kitchen facility set up with all the equipment, very clean and well presented. We learned the mother of all sauce and various ways in which to use it, plus many other dishes included. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves to cook and learn new things experiences.

My husband and I love to cook and learn about other cultures so this was a perfect experience. The markets were very interesting and the variety of food was great and yummy. The teacher was also very helpful, kind and knowledgeable.
