Cape Coast Castle
The Cape Coast Castle is one of the biggest castles still standing in Ghana today which was constructed by European forces, On a portion of the Gold Coast that subsequently came to be known as the Cape Coast, it all started as a Portuguese trade lodge built in 1555. The Swedish Africa Company built a permanent wooden stronghold in 1653 to facilitate the trading of gold and lumber after Sweden conquered the Cape Coast. The regional office of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board is located there, and it is currently a historical museum with a gift shop selling Ghanaian arts and crafts.
Elmina Castle
So Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine) was the name given to Elmina Castle by the Portuguese in 1482 when they erected it in Elmina, Ghana (formerly the Gold Coast). Elmina and Elmina Castle is the oldest European structure still standing below the Sahara because it was the first trading post ever constructed on the Gulf of Guinea. It was initially founded as a trading colony but eventually developed into one of the most significant sites along the path of the Atlantic slave trade. A significant portion of Werner Herzog's 1987 drama film "Cobra Verde" was filmed at Elmina Castle, which is now a well-known historical landmark. It serves as a stark reminder of the history of the slave trade and is a very sought-after destination for African American travelers hoping to connect with their heritage.

5.00This was so dope! The castles are beautiful with such a sad history to it. They will have you feel upset snd event experience the darkness the places saw during the time. The national park was the great amount of thrill you need. Make sure to wear comfortable SNEAKERS for the trip!

5.00I’m so glad I took this tour! It managed to be both deeply moving and very refreshing. The historical visits to the castle were intense, informative and eye-opening. The lush, stunning canopy walk views at the Kakum National Park provided a beautiful space to reflect in between. Thompson was a fantastic guide—truly warm and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a thoughtful, well-rounded trip!

5.00We had a fantastic day in the gold coast! Pick up was smooth, our guide was friendly and informative, and the whole day was well planned. I'm so glad we got to see the castles and learn about the history of the coast, and the canopy bridge walk was a thrilling and unique way to see the jungle!

5.00This tour was fantastic, our tour guide Thomson was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the history and culture and was a great conversationalist. Pick up was right on time, we were on the road pretty early. There is a patch in the road of about 1hr which is a bit bumpy due to the construction of the Ecowas Road, but it’s definitely worth it. The visit to the castles is a bit somber as one can imagine, but very informative and eye opening. The visit to the National Park was very fun. It was also interesting to see villages and small town through the car on the way there A couple of recommendations, eat a hearty breakfast and bring a couple snacks with you because you will having lunch a bit later in the day (3pm). Lunch is not included, but Plan on spending around 200 Cedis (though I will say the portions are big so it’s definitely possible to share one plate). Overall awesome experience, highly recommend!

5.00The best tour ever, money well spent from the pickup point of the tour the operators educated us about important historic sites on the way to the castle town of cape coast while in the transport van. We learned how to speak basic terms and were safely guided through the entire tour with no issues. There were 2 tour operators that made sure we were safe and did not have any issue even making sure we had a chance to ask questions if we wanted …very great experience I would highly recommend using this company…

5.00I did almost all of my tiyrs with expedition go tours and highly recommend. Whenever there is a delay or something (which can happen because of traffic) they call you and let you know. The communication is really good. The guides are excellent. The group size is perfect and feels a bit like family.
