Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo)

As the UNESCO Sites, construction of the Leshan Buddha, begun in the year 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and finished in the year 803, the statue took people more than 90 years to carve. During these years, thousands of workers had expended their efforts and wisdom on the project. As the biggest carved stone Buddha in the world, the Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story. Lingyun Temple

Upon arrival, your first destination is Lingyun Temple, nestled behind the Grand Buddha’s imposing head. Take a moment to marvel at the architectural masterpiece of the Buddha’s coiled hair—composed of approximately 1,020 intricately twisted buns, each meticulously crafted to reflect the artistry of ancient craftsmen. Step inside the temple, where every corner reveals elaborate sculptures and ornate wall designs, whispers of history etched into every curve and contour. From the temple’s vantage point, drink in the breathtaking panoramic view of three rivers converging below, their waters merging into a shimmering tapestry of blue and green. Next, follow your guide on a scenic 30-minute descent along the left flank of the Grand Buddha.
