Enjoyed this tour a lot. Beautiful scenery. Fun to see where some of the Godfather was filmed (even though I’ve never actually watched the movie! Haha!)

We were collected directly outside the terminal gate which cut out all worries about finding the coach. The lady guide was really lovely but seemed to be embarrassed by silence, so much of the talk was of no interest and that included lusting all of the various flavours of ice cream that were available in a particular shop ! Savoca was okay but to see one bar from a 30 year old movie took a lot of time getting to and in short we could have had an extra two hours in Taormina which was truly fantastic. A major hick up occurred in the coach, when going up the mountainous tight bends to Savoca and meeting coaches coming the other way. We had to much weight on our 16 (?) seater coach so it refused to move forward in first gear and began to roll backwards. Some people started to panic while our guide continued to talk trivia about the Godfather ! In the end we had to get off the bus and walk some distance uphill to the village in 30 degrees of heat. This was tiring for me at 70 years old and anyone with a heart condition would have suffered badly. Maybe this was bad luck but the tour company should really have fit for the purpose vehicles as no way was the driver at fault. Having recovered from that episode and an unexciting trip to Savoca, we then went to Taormina which is superb and pedestrianised very similar we thought to Dubrovnik with little alley ways full of shops and restaurants. To conclude, yes we had a mishap which was unusual and yes the lovely guide talked too much but the trip was worth it. Next time though I would try Taormina only and ask the tour company if their coaches can master the hills !
Bus condition not up to par

We had too many people on our bus that we couldn’t make it up the mountain. We had to get off and walk to the town. The clutch was burning out, we had very little AC because the bus was just not mechanically sound. While Lily was wonderful, she did talk a bit too much, there was no downtime from her talking while on the bus and it became a bit overwhelming. Highly recommend going to the two locations but we could’ve had a better bus to take us.

Beautiful scenery. A lot of driving up winding mountain roads. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thought is was pricey for basically a bus ride, though. Liked having free time at both stops.
