La Recoleta Cemetery
It is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Recoleta, which owes its name to the fact that the convent of the Recollect monks was located there, to which the neighboring Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar also belonged (the cemetery was built in the old monks' garden). ). It is the most visited in the city, due to its numerous and imposing mausoleums and vaults, belonging to many of the main protagonists of Argentine history, such as that of Eva Perón (Evita), one of the most popular tombs. Likewise, it deserves a visit for its architectural value, since it is a sample of the times when the country was an emerging economic power and the main families of the city competed to build splendid pantheons. Many of the vaults and mausoleums are the work of important architects and are adorned with marble and sculpture; more than 90 vaults have been declared a National Historical Monument.
El Ateneo Grand Splendid
The Ateneo Grand Splendid was chosen by the British newspaper The Guardian as the second most important bookstore in the world. Erected over the old Grand Splendid cinema theater in the Recoleta neighborhood, it retains its former splendor and elegance, with the dome decorated with frescoes, the original railings and the decoration intact. On the old stage – with the velvet curtain slightly open – there is a bar that invites you to sit down with a book in hand. You can also take advantage of the armchairs that are on both sides of the main room or sit in the exclusive boxes that function as small reading rooms. In the basement there is a sector dedicated to children's books, and the upper floor is dedicated to samples and exhibitions.

5.00It was a very thorough tour covering as much of this huge city as is humanly possible in 6 hours. Our tour guide, Juan, was fantastic - very knowledgeable, excellent English, and extremely flexible and accommodating to my mobility issues. My only suggestion would be to better plan out bathroom breaks for about every 2 hours.

3.00We had booked and confirmed a Francophone guide but he spoke only a few words, so he had to switch to English that not everyone spoke in our group. The guide was rather friendly but did not seem to have a precise plan for the tour and did not give much explanation (apart from our questions). In the end more a friendly taxi driver than a tourist guide.

5.00Excellent private tour of the city. Ana was a great guide & explained everything very well. We were able to visit interesting sites in all parts of the city. Ana reviewed the options with us at the beginning of the tour & customized it to suit our needs. She went directly with us at some stops & dropped us off for lunch & at a museum. She was right there to pick us up when we had finished & called her. She picked us up & dropped us off right at the cruise port terminal building. This definitely a perfect tour for cruisers. We highly recommend the itinerary & Ana.

4.00Be aware the vehicle may be a car which was a little tight for 4 adults but we managed, especially since one person was tall lol. We were expecting a 4 x 4 or people carrier. Our guide drove arouns the city pointing out various historical buildings and telling us about the history. Seemed a little disappointed we wouldn't get out and walk through one of the markets, we wanted to see the sites not the markets in particular. Felt we could have spent more time in some of the areas and that some things we saw weren't really what we were expecting... pretty good tour to get a feel for the city though. Highlight was our stop for lunch at a typical Argentina BBQ restaurant by the stadium, what an experience.

1.00Our guide was late because of the "manifestation" or protest that was being organized in downtown Buenos Aires. The pickup area was not clear and communication was challenging because I kept texting and calling the company and provided my number but nobody called and there was a message in Spanish and then I would get hung-up on! Our guide was wonderful and did his best under the circumstances but we had to terminate our 6 hour tour after only 3 hours because of the "manifestation" that was occurring in the area of our hotel. He spoke to the police that allowed him to enter the barricaded area and we had to find the hotel using Google Maps but because of the many barricades we kept getting rerouted and had to walk several blocks with 3 pieces of luggage through thousands of people to get to our hotel and at the point the tour was terminated. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM IN ADVANCE SO THAT WE COULD HAVE MADE OTHER PLANS. WE PAID FOR A 6 HOUR TOUR AND GOT ONLY 3 and WE GOT ABOUT A 30 min. WALKING TOUR OF A PROTEST. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
