Little Africa Cultural Walk

Meeting Point Info: Meet at Museu do Amanhã, Praça Mauá. The guide will wear a Florencios uniform and a “Welcome to Rio” sign.
Semi-Private Experience: Runs privately even for 1 guest. If others book the same date and time, you may join a small group.
Duration: 3 hours: Approx. 3.5 hours. Tours depart at 09:30 and 14:30 from the designated meeting point.
Afro Rio Heritage Walk: Explore Valongo Wharf, Pedra do Sal, Prainha Square, and more with a guide focused on Afro history.
Meeting Point by Tour Time: Morning: Museu do Amanhã (09:30). Afternoon: MUHCAB Museum (14:30). No hotel pick-up or drop-off included.

This tour was amazing! It was so informative about Black history in Brazil and the culture of the "Pretos Novos". I would recommend to any and all interested in learning more about such an important part of Brazil's history and culture. Our tour guide Larissa made the tour even better with her knowledge and wonderful personality!

I highly recommend the Rio De Janeiro Little Africa tour! Our tour guide Tania Teixeira was exceptional, She was very professional, knowledgeable, just an all around fun person. I have never had such a Great Tour Guide. You will learn history without feeling like you're learning. It's a walking tour but Tania is so entertaining and informative that it makes each step worth it! I will give this tour with Tania 5 stars

Definitely glad I took this tour of Little Africa with Larissa, a local who was proud to share her community’s efforts to recover its history. She introduced me to people at the two museums and a bookstore that we went to and she was very knowledgeable about history and the ongoing struggles black people in Rio face. The area felt safe enough to walk around without a guide but having one was nice. Also, just uber to a meeting spot there to save on money. This will also allow you to hang out more if you want after the tour is over.

If I could give 6 stars to the guide Ana Julia I would give them to her: a young black girl, enthusiastic, passionate, totally taken by the theme she was explaining to us. Absolutely impeccable English: fluent and very varied. I thought he'd been abroad, but instead he started self-taught. He gave us a thousand examples, even current ones, of what it means to be an African in Brazil in the past and today. How Brazilian politics, present and past, have interacted with the African part of the population. It impressed us, it really conveyed something to us and it was our data subject. Three and a half hours flying! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Courageous also to expose herself in the first person in certain statements: for us absolutely shareable, even if white and European..... but you never know who you have in front of you. Very commendable! In general Little Africa and especially history must be heard and we understand so much about Brazil today, the favelas and more. We started Rio with this lap and we did absolutely well.

I spent a wonderful morning and afternoon with Damiana. She is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. My knowledge of the Afro-Brazilian historical and cultural experience was significantly increased. Damiana is second to none and has my highest recommendation.

Scarlet my tour guide was amazing!!! We learned so much about the African and Afro-Brazilian story. We learned history behind the history which is displayed throughout downtown. This was a very comfortable pace along streets and up stairs in some instances. There are many similarities to discover between the diaspora in the United States and in Brazil. Do not miss this tour if you want to experience all of Rio’s culture.
