It is the stage for numerous internationally significant events related to the mountains and winter sports. It hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics and, together with Milan, will host the 2026 Games. 5.00Before you book this trip, it is important to note that most of the day is driving so manage your expectations there! However, for us, who had very limited time but still wanted to see the Dolomites without spending lots of money, this was perfect. Additionally, I think our itinerary may have been shorten because it was going to rain at 3PM so Steffania did what she count to adjust so that we can see most of the day in the sun - which I appreciated. We had a small group broken up to two vans. We left promptly at 8AM and returned home around 6:30/7PM. The first stop at Cortina is short and just enough for bathroom breaks, a quick snack, and a leisurely walk to get photos. The view is beautiful! I fell in love with the petite cakes at Alverà Pasticceria. We did a few quick photo stop, which I appreciated for different views. The star of the trip is Lake Braies, where we saw the most beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We had enough time to rent a boat (45-min rental for 55 Euros), grab lunch, and walk around. If the weather is windy, they may not let you rent a boat without some rowing experience. They made an exception for us because we had some kayaking experience and the wind wasn't too harsh. That said, this IS a physical activity - usually for one single rower/driver. One last photo stop and then home!

5.00Likely the most comfortable way to get a taste of the Dolomites from Venice. You spend a little over two hours at the lake which is enough for either a hike or some fun on the boats. I think it’s good to pack an adventure lunch to maximize your time at the lake. The guide loves the region so you get a lot of interesting history about the bunkers, industries, and happenings of the towns and the landscape leading up to the lake.
