On this tour, you can cool off on Thailand's highest peak while taking in the beautiful scenic Doi Inthanon National Park. Nighttime temperatures on the peak can be as low as -8 degrees centigrade. In the cold/dry season, nighttime frosts are common. Daytime temperatures can be surprisingly cold so do not forget a long sleeve jumper. On the way up we will walk on the famous nature trail, Kew Mae Pan (November - May) or Pha Dok Siew (June - October) then visit Wachirithan Waterfalls, The King and Queen Chedi's, (the best views across the park are found here), and then on to the peak of Doi Inthanon the highest mountain in Thailand. Near the top, we will take the Angkha nature walk where you can walk among the unique flora and forests that grow at this altitude. There are both Karen and Hmong villages in the bounds of Doi Inthanon and we will see those at the local market on the way down the mountain before making our way back to Chiang Mai.

We visited really nice and beautiful places, no doubts about it. Let mention, however, the really poor quality of the service, better saying the guide (BILLY). The van was perfectly on time, we drove for 1:30 h reaching the pick and we had couple of hours trekking, which was good, but nothing special. You can see a forest like that everywhere. We were supposed to have a guide explaining us everything about plants and animals in the forest, but absolutely nothing. He also completely avoided one of our questions. Moreover we had two old couples with walking issues and he told my parter and I he was waiting “the dead people” and “they are too fat”. Absolutely not professional. English level of the guide (named BILLY!) was minus C2, completely incomprehensible. Moreover he’s pushed us all day long, like he was in a hurry, not even leaving us 1 min to take a couple of photos. One of the stop was the local market of the hill tribes and we spent there 2 min maximum just because he wanted to go to eat. He kept pushing us literally all day long, he was really annoying. I gave 2 stars just because the places we visited were ok, but still, definitely the cost is too much for the actual activity. Value for money: -26272818226! That was an actual pity!

This was a great way to see Doi Inthanon, hike in nature, and see the King and Queen Pagodas. I read a lot of reviews for different day trips (many of them follow the same route), and I'm glad I chose this one because it had an actual hike, rather than just driving you from place to place. Still, you will see tons of the same tourist vans at every stop. A few logistical things to know: 1) Lunch is not until 2:30 or 3 p.m., so plan accordingly! You can also purchase snacks at each of the stops. 2) The trek is a TREK! And our guide moved at a very fast pace. Make sure to bring plenty of water (they'll give you 1 bottle) and be prepared for an intense hike, especially the first 1 km which is all uphill. 3) I suggest wearing hiking boots for the first part of the day and then bringing sandals to change into after the hike. You can leave stuff in the van in between stops. And yes, it's cooler at the summit, but you don't need a ton of layers - just a long sleeved shirt or light jacket will do. A few things that would have made the trip even better: 1) Add 5-10 mins at the summit. We didn't even have time to take a photo! 2) I could have done without the stop at the market and coffee village. You don't spend long at either stop and they seem to be geared entirely toward tourists. In sum: I recommend this tour, and if they offered the same tour but ended the day at lunch and got you back to Chiang Mai earlier, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Truly unique experience. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the hike fun. The 2 pagodas and surrounding garden was beautifully maintained, and beautiful.
