Staring dickside, discover Dunedin’s roots when your ship is in port on a shore excursion that takes in the city's central sights and historic Larnach Castle. In the am you will visit Larnach Castle, where admission and a guided tour of the castle has been arranged for your enjoyment. Returning to the central city you will have some free time to explore, get some lunch and maybe doing some shopping. In the pm see Dunedin’s highlights -- including Otago University, botanical gardens, Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world and many historic buildings on a two-hour sightseeing tour prior to being returned to your cruise ship.

09.00 Start your shore excursion with port pickup and board your comfortable coach for a sightseeing tour. Through Duinedin City and then onto Larnach Castle for a guided tour of the grounds and gardens
Dunedin Railways
On route to the castle a brief stop will be made in central Dunedin at the Dunedin Railway Station where some of the group will depart the coach to join the Taieri Gorge Train Excursion.

1.00Tour cancelled 24 hrs in advance by operator, very disappointed. We had to scramble to find another tour operator. We later learned other Viator tours did operate. We located a non Viator tour and was very pleased. Poor performance on the part of the tour operator.
Miscommunication led to self tour

3.00Tour drivers were great but mass confusion and it caused our tour to be cut short by about an hour. Seemed to have combined tours into the one which lead to confusion. Was meant to be led by our tour leader but due to issues it ended up being a self led tour.

1.00The was originally scheduled for 9:00am departure However, the tour operator gave specific instructions to meet at 9:45am for 10:00am departure. We arrived early at 9:10am only to find the tour left without us.

5.00Dunedin is a must see and this tour was perfect. A knowledgeable guide and plent of time to walk this fascinating community before ambling back to our ship. Well worth the time!

5.00Ross was our guide. He was very knowledgable and helpful. Highly recommend this tour. Olveston House is amazing as is all of Dunedin.

3.00With the exception of the tour of the Olveston House, Dunedin is rather lacking in anything else of significance. The house is a marvel, steeped in fascinating history and preserved in its architecture and furnishings, a tribute to the volunteers. Dunedin does have a train station that is unique for the size of the city but other than that there's not a lot to see. A tour of the house and then off to the environs would had made it a better day.
