After pick-up from your hotel in Ella, head for Udawalawe Or Yala National Park, where you'll switch to an open concept safari jeep in order to have the best views. An early Morning or Afternoon start ensures you'll see the animals during one of their most active times of day Morning or Evening. See Leopards, herds of elephants for sure and have fun watching for crocodiles, monkeys, water buffaloes, various endemic birds species and much more. Along the way, you'll learn about and observe the natural habitats of the local wildlife while you snap some amazing photos.
In the Morning or Afternoon, 3-hour safari adventure, switch back to the comfortable, air-conditioned car for the ride on to Tangalle/Hiriketiya/Matara/Mirissa/Weligama/Unawatuna/Galle where you'll be dropped off at your hotel.

Udawalawe National Park
Udawalawe National Park is a national park on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka. The park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares (119.00 sq mi) of land area and was established on 30 June 1972.

2.00Started off poorly with total lack of communication, we emailed, text and called the company to see if the tour was going ahead as we had not heard anything on the day or before. Eventually they texted an hour before and told us to meet them at a point in Ella. The bus was around 40 minutes late to pick up. The bus itself was quite small and the drive was long to Yala. The actual safari was very good. It then took around 30 minutes to badly organise people by drop off destination making the entire day very long. Overall you get what you pay for!

4.00The actual safari was fantastic, Koshala was our driver and he was great, took us round the national park, we saw lots of elephants, jackel, peacocks, crocodile, baby elephants, tortoises and much more, it was about a 2.5/3 hour experience overall and we really enjoyed it. Just be mindful that it is very bumpy on the roads when doing the safari. The only reason we rated this a 4 rather than a 5 was that once you book you don’t really hear anything from them until the 12-24 hours before your safari time and if you’re using this as a way to get to the south coast from Ella it can be nerve wrecking as you then don’t have transport down. Rest assured they do reach out to you normally via WhatsApp and ask where your hotel is in Ella, they then from what we deciphered sent a driver to pick us up and bring us to the place for the safari, the driver then waits for you (or comes on the safari with you like ours did) and then drives you down to your next hotel. It’s quite a long day but actually it’s a good overall experience, we just shared this as our thoughts as it would’ve been useful to know all of this before we booked the safari.

5.00Everything perfect, as described in the purchase. Timely pick-up Service at it. The safari was perfect with the guide, he taught us the park calmly and always attentive to see animals. At the end of the safari, Service to your next hotel very effective.
