5.00Alnwick is particular but everything was fantastic, including an unscheduled stop at Bamburgh Castle on the way back . Special mention for Brodie our driver and guide. He was extremely entertaining and knowledgeable and without him do not think the tour would have been as good.

4.00Alnwick is a big, impressive castle and will take you a few hours to see it all. Harry Potter fans will recognize the courtyard and have fun taking selfies. Our tour guide was an encyclopedia of Scottish history but ironically didn't tell us anything about Alnwick Castle or Northumbria. I asked him to take us by Bamburgh Castle on the way back and we were able to get some nice photos of it from the outside too, although we didn't have time to go in. If you have time to spare, I recommend maybe spending the night in Northumbria so you can visit Alnwick, Bamburgh, and Lindisfarne while you're there. Otherwise you spend as much time driving as you do at the castle.

5.00Great tour. The Melrose Abbey is a stunning ruin, I could have stayed for hours, but alas, only 30 minutes. We had several hours at Alnwick Castle. Even in September, the gardens were magnficent. The caslte is lovely. Downton Abbey fans will recognize the state rooms. My disappointment was that the exterior of the castle seemed more like a Hogwarts Lite amusement park. Our guide, Murray was a lot of fun and informative. The stop at the seaside was interesting. Lovely scenery.
