Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau
The concentration camp in Auschwitz was established by German Nazis on the outskirts of the town Oswiecim in 1940. After the war, the camp was turned into museum displaying evidence of the genocide. Block no. 11, known as the Death Block, was where people were murdered also at the “Wall of Death”. Outside the camp, there is a gas chamber, where 70,000 people were killed in 1940-1943. In 1941, 3 kilometres from Oswiecim, in the former village of Brzezinka, the German Nazis established a new camp called Auschwitz II Birkenau. In 1942-1945, approx. 1.5 million people lived and died here. Most of them (90%) were Jews, others were Poles, Gypsies, Russians and prisoners from 28 countries of Europe, people of all nationalities and political and religious persuasions. Since 1944, transports of prisoners from all over the continent entered directly through the “Gate of Death”. In 1979, Auschwitz – Birkenau Concentration Camp was listed a UNESCO World Culture and National Heritage Site.

Very, very poor experience. Feeling like the quality of Victor tours is slipping, as it’s our 2nd in two weeks (two different countries) that were kess than adequate. We waited 20 minutes for 3 people who weren’t responsible enough to show up slightly early or for that matter ON TIME!! Too bad for adults that book and can’t make it on time. Why are 30 other people forced to wait for them - unacceptable! Then our driver drove out (apparently in the wrong direction) for a good 10-15 minutes in traffic, then got a phone call and proceeded to turn the bus and return in the same direction we had just come from that took another 10-15 minutes to get back on track. This of course made us late for the tour. It was extremely rushed and chaotic. Then to top it off, our guide (who was very knowledgeable) was having Mic 🎤 issues but annoyed at the group of us that couldn’t hear but every other word. He kept sending everyone for new headsets and was visibly irritated with those that spoke up. He then realized 20 minutes into the tour that it was HIS mic that was cutting out. We missed everything said those first 20 minutes and were so rushed that we couldn’t even stop to read the historic signs telling us about the camp because he kept forcing us ahead and to stay together because we were super on time. So disappointed. Many to all of your customers are probably in that country or location once in their life, and to have these tours not operate well is so upsetting!!!!

Kris, the one who picked us up early from the hotel was very pleasant and nice. He made sure we boarded the right train. When we arrived in Krakow, the meeting place to Auschwitz was easy to find. Our tour guide to Auschwitz-Birkenau, Milek (don't know the spelling of his name) was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Though, the line to enter the Auschwitz museum was quite long and they don't have an organized system. Our driver was quite busy with her phone the whole time and doesn't seem to interact with us. Overall, we enjoyed the tour.

A very striking place for all its historical significance that is also very well prepared to receive the dressers. The only thing that is very limited is the bathrooms

Communication was great. Started several days before re: uncertainty in ability to get museum tickets (all worked out - did get tickets) to sharing train options, to reminders and clear details on return trip … made me much more at ease with going solo. Tour guide was fantastic - so knowledgeable. Be aware that it gets dark early in November so might finish the tour with limited light. I took the premium train there - standard on the way back. Not much of a difference.

Everyone in their life time. Should visit one of these camps. Auschwitz is the most famous death camp. But it is far from the only one. The further we get away from history, the easier history is used to twist, lie, manipulate. Forget. The seeds of evil remain in the world and are growing and being nurtured where something like this will happen again. This tour was impactful. Led by a guide with thoughtfulness and respect. Go. Learn. Be changed. Remember. And fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Fight against extreme nationalism. Against politicians who manipulate and lie. Go on this tour. History demands it.

I recently took a tour from Warsaw to Krakow, Auschwitz, and Birkenau, and it was an unforgettable experience. The tour was incredibly moving, filled with sadness, depth, and profound history. If possible, choose the premium extended evening time in Krakow and the later morning pickup in Warsaw. Being able to sleep in and take the faster train makes a big difference since it’s a full, long day. I highly recommend selecting the hotel pickup option and upgrading to the premium express train; it had WiFi, power outlets, and even a bar car. The food options were restaurant quality, and the breakfast I ordered on the train was fantastic. We truly wished we had planned a few extra days in Krakow afterward. There is so much history in the Old Town, along with great shopping and amazing restaurants. A huge thank you to Agnieszka for all her support and for answering my many questions on WhatsApp. And definitely download WhatsApp when traveling as it is the best way to stay connected during the tour.

A very emotional experience. A must do. The tour was very well organized considering many moving parts. Van from hotel to train station, train to Krakow, and then bus to Auschwitz. The tour itself is both emotionally and physically exhausting. Lots of walking. You know what you are going to see, but until you’ve truly seen it and been there, you really don’t know. I’m 60 years old and to realize that these atrocities happened merely 20 years before I was born really shook me. This isn’t ancient history and we must never forget. And even keeping these horrors to view hasn’t prevented these from happening elsewhere though not on this scale of course. You must go there. It will change you.

I booked my tour ahead of time, and was scheduled to go tomorrow, Oct 24. Today out of the blue my trip was cancelled with the reason being that “the museum didn’t give additional guides for tomorrow there is not possibility to book the tickets and organize the tour”. Wasn’t that supposed to be all set up and it is why is encouraged to book tours ahead of time? I CANOT recommend this company at all.
