You will be pickup from your accommodation and get transferred to the train station. Your English-speaking driver will assist you with the check-in and wait until you are boarded for the train to Krakow. After a train ride, you will be welcomed by a local English-speaking driver and start your tour via shared transportation to Auschwitz. Guided group tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau lasts till 3,5 hours. You will learn Learn about the tragic history of the Holocaust. Then you will depart Auschwitz-Birkenau for a 1.5-hour journey to Krakow. You will have three hours of free time to see the Main Market Square in Krakow, the biggest Medieval old town square in Europe. In the Old Town, visit Wawel Hill where the Cathedral and the Royal Castle are, the Town Hall Tower, St. Mary’s Basilica, Krakow Barbican, and Sukiennice - the Cloth Hall. After that you will board the train at about 7.30 PM, get picked up at the platform and be transferred from the train station back to your hotel in Warsaw.

Krakow

You will see the Main Market Square in Krakow, the biggest Medieval old town square in Europe. In the Old Town you can also find the Wawel Hill – with the Cathedral and the Royal Castle (until 1611 Wawel was the formal seat of Polish monarchy – it was the place of royal coronations ), Town Hall Tower, St. Mary’s Basilica, Krakow Barbican and Sukiennice (Cloth Hall), thousands of bars and delightful regional restaurants, many historic buildings and horse-driven cabs.

Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau

The concentration camp in Auschwitz was established by German Nazis on the outskirts of the town Oswiecim in 1940. After the war, the camp was turned into museum displaying evidence of the genocide. Block no. 11, known as the Death Block, was where people were murdered also at the “Wall of Death”. Outside the camp, there is a gas chamber, where 70,000 people were killed in 1940-1943. In 1941, 3 kilometres from Oswiecim, in the former village of Brzezinka, the German Nazis established a new camp called Auschwitz II Birkenau. In 1942-1945, approx. 1.5 million people lived and died here. Most of them (90%) were Jews, others were Poles, Gypsies, Russians and prisoners from 28 countries of Europe, people of all nationalities and political and religious persuasions. Since 1944, transports of prisoners from all over the continent entered directly through the “Gate of Death”. In 1979, Auschwitz – Birkenau Concentration Camp was listed a UNESCO World Culture and National Heritage Site.

This is a very reliable tour company. I can vouch for it. They provided me timely communication for the logistics. We were picked up at the hotel on time in the early morning by Chris to the train station. Chris was very attentive and polite. He stayed with us until we got on the train. Unfortunately, our train was delayed on the way to Krakow due to some unforeseen technical difficulty. Subsequently, we missed our bus to Auschwitz. I was able to contact the lady in the office and she was very kind to make arrangement to get another driver to take us to Auschwitz. Michal met us at the train station and took us just in time for our admission window. Michal was another nice gentleman to ensure we were well taken care of. At the end of the day when we arrived back to Krakow late at night, Chris was there waiting for us to take us back to the hotel. All in all, I was extremely happy with the service provided by the tour company. Highly recommend this tour if you want to visit Auschwitz.

It's better to learn in advance the story of these two horrible camps. The tour guides was excellent.

On our tour we joked that our driver, Maciej, was the #1 driver in Poland. I’ve got to say at the end of the trip I absolutely believe this is true. One thing to know about tickets to Auschwitz— they are very difficult to reserve. You’ll find a lot of tours that will cancel your tour 24-48 hours ahead of time if they are unable to procure tickets. But for a once in a lifetime visit like Auschwitz, many people may not have another opportunity to visit. Kris with AB Everest kept in very good communication with us for several days before the tour keeping us updated on the quest to get tickets and giving us alternate options for seeing different camps or going very early in the morning to get the tickets held back for each day. I really felt like they knew how important that this trip was to us. (i also understand that the issue they had with tickets is a recent issue for all tours companies caused by changes with protocol at Auschwitz and don’t happen all the time.) We chose the “leave at 3:30 am” option to arrive at the ticket gate to hopefully be first in line for tickets. When we arrived at 6:30 am the line was the longest our driver had seen. But he stayed with us in line and kept checking on progress and offering us options to change times for the Krakow portion and managing expectations for wait times. Despite very little sleep and a less than ideal situation he kept all of us cheerful in the wait and the wait time went much more quickly than we had feared. Many other tour drivers just left their customers in line with no instructions or feel for what was happening. Those people would ask Maciek for help and he was so cheerful and helpful with them as well. By the time we finally got tickets they were for later in the day, and rather than cancel the Krakow afternoon tour portion Maciek made it work where we could do Krakow first then come back to Auschwitz. We all really appreciated his attentiveness and friendliness and flexibility and humor and even consider this almost 19 hour day one of the highlights of our whole vacation.
