From Bilbao we will go to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where we will have free time to go up to the top if we want. Going up its 241 stairs we will feel like we are ascending to one of the most important fortresses in the series Game of Thrones: Dragonstone. We will then visit the town of Bermeo, a fishing village with a deep-rooted seafaring tradition. Before finishing our excursion, we will head towards Gernika, the Basque town that gives its name to the famous painting by Pablo Picasso, where we will visit the gardens of the “Gernika Assembly Hall”

Good informative tour with a multilingual guide. Francisco worked with us when it looked like one of us might not make it back to the bus on schedule at one of the stops (we made it just a few minutes late!). No time allowed to grab more than a quick bite even though the tour ran from early morning to mid-afternoon.
More like transport only than a guided tour

Minimal English input from the guide. Its more like transport only and fill in background info yourself. Compared with other groups we met aling the way, this is way below srandard. Not recommended.

The stop to the castle should be longer. An extra 15-20 minutes would be great. Suggestions on where to go for a quick bite in Bermeo would be helpful. The guide struggled with English and often ended his sentences and thoughts in Spanish. The Spanish speakers definitely got more education than the English speakers.

Experience was positive for San Juan de Guax. You barely get to see Bermeo and Gernika…for both stops you get off the bus, listen to the tour guide talk for 15 minutes and get back on the bus. Not much of a visit. So the day trip itself quite short and you only spend time in the first stop.

Stephanie our guide was amazing, he did all the hiking up and down and even cheering the team. He is very knowledgeable and manage both languages English and Spanish perfectly not to miss a detail. I highly recommend this tour. Yvon the driver was very kind and patient with the group.
Was unable to go on this tour, but the company did not help.

San juan very nice, we stayed there about 1h 40. C is all the time to go take some pictures look around and come back with a good step. We had a baby and we made it peacefully. The 20’ saved here we have recovered to bermeo. After 30 minutes of driving 30 minutes of free time. We took the opportunity to eat qlc and go to the bathroom. In fact it was the only free time we had. Gernika deserved at least 30 ‘free to ride a little ‘free and enjoy a little more of the history of this city but there were 45’ driving, beautiful but all too fast.

This is a large group tour. We had a full bus. The hike at Gaztelugatxe was beutiful, but the rest of the tour was not quite what we expected. We would have preferred more time in Gernika to learn more in-depth about Basque history and governance. Burmeo was not that exciting.

A beautiful day with a visit to the impressive San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, the fishing town of Bermeo and the historic center for the Basques Gernika. Traveled with a nice bus with air conditioning and a good guide.
