Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew)
The glittering Grand Palace in Bangkok is an architectural wonder that was once home to the kings of the Chakri Dynasty. A visit to the ornate and historic Grand Palace, and the adjacent Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is a highlight of any visit to the Kingdom. The palace was built in 1782 by the Rama I, the first king of the Chakri Dynasty, when he moved the capital of what was then known as the Kingdom of Siam from Thonburi on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River to Bangkok on the east bank. For 150 years the palace was the home of the Thai King. Today, the complex remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.

This was an interesting tour, and we stayed through throughout the duration. Many in the group left early as the pact was a little bit slow, and they may have wanted to move out quicker on their own. Our guide John was very nice. Did you have an afternoon and have not seen the temples up close and personal, this is a good option. Make sure that you bring plenty of money for entrance fees as they are not included in the price of the tour.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and talked about the temple history for foreigners to learn about Thai people and culture!

I met Mr TK at the pick up point. Initially, I waited at the main road, but then realised they indicated the ferry as the pick up point. There was a slight misalignment between what is written as the pick up point, and where it shows when you choose “show on map”. Anyway, after a few minutes, the guide and me found each other. Other two travellers joined approximately 15-20 minutes late. Then the tour began; Mr TK was very supportive and knowledgeable, sharing his enthusiasm and information about the places we visited. I definitely recommend this tour. The pick up location maybe could be selected in a way that everyone could easily find it.

The tour was scheduled for 4 hours, but our tour guide (Jerry?) left us after 2 hours (only did Grand Palace and emerald Buddha)…not the other 2 major temples. He said he had another tour to do and that we should just go on our own. In the end, we didn’t go on our own (as we didn’t know where to go + we were tired). Instead, we went to the textile museum (which had AC) and had ice cream from a food truck - which was nice. The only disappointing part was the tour description inaccurate and mis-leading to tourists.
