Muthurajawela Marsh
Start your memorable boat ride through the Dutch canal. This was at one time an important link in the transportation route which supplied the Dutch colonial administration. You will continue your ride through the Canal to the lagoon which is fed by a number of small rivers and a canal. It is linked to the sea by a narrow channel to the north, near Negombo city. It is surrounded by a densely populated region containing rice paddies, coconut plantations and grassland. The land is used for fishing and agriculture. The lagoon has extensive mangrove swamps and attracts a wide variety of water birds including cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other shorebirds. Finally, you will reach Muthurajawela Wetland that provides a home for a diverse range of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic and threatened. It is also an important area for migratory birds, making it a primary recreational and educational destination in Negombo.

5.00This experience is an absolute must do for nature lovers. Get up close & personal with a wildlife, monkeys, huge variety of birds, learn about the different vegetation. The boat trip is beyond relaxing, very therapeutic. Thankyou

4.00It is a boat safari tour, but there is spot sightseeing. The fish massage experience was good. They served us mango juice after boarding. If it is Rs 10,000, it is a tourist destination price.

5.00Really good experience. We saw monkeys, three types of kingfisher, the largest sea eagle of Sri Lanka and many other birds. Our guide was fantasti annd knowledgeable and provided us with fresh coconuts and bananas too!

5.00From pushing off with our 'captain' through the canals we were treated to amazing mangroves, bird life, reptiles and jumping fish. We photographed a rarely seen white Kingfisher, white bellied sea eagle and a large purple heron. We were treated to fresh watermelon and king coconut. Watching a group of monkeys enjoy their bananas was comical. Thankyou and highly recommended.

5.00A tranquil and very enjoyably experience witnessing the natural beauty of the wetlands. During our boat ride we saw numerous birds including a variety of king fishers, herons, a lapwing and a kite. Additionally we were fortunate to see a baby crocodile. A wonderful trip and would certainly highly recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in nature or seeking some tranquility.

5.00I recommend it. About an hour from our hotel in Colombo, we took a tuk-tuk through the local city to the boat dock. The driver, Samith, was safe driving and was able to ride safely. I would like to take part in another boat tour one day where you can meet various birds and creatures while going slowly in beautiful scenery.

5.00The guide is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw birds and water monitors and monkeys and he provided snacks and refreshments. It was a wonderful time and a highly recommended tour!
