Negombo Fish Market

Negombo was home to Sri Lankan fishermen and women who engaged in traditional fishing methods long before the city became a renowned beach destination with hundreds of beach resorts lining its sandy shore. This large fish market, located at the western end of Negombo's seashore, is the center of all morning action. This is the best way of experiencing the city of Negombo. The driver is amazing. He drives safe, is very helpful/caring and has a lot of knowledge and facts to share.

We had a very enjoyable ride out with Vishud and his tuk tuk this morning. Vishud was a very pleasant young man who brought with him a wealth of knowledge about Negombo. We would highly recommend this trip.

Very informative and answered a lot of our many questions. Great way to see negombo and not very touristy it was more authentic. Would definitely recommend doing the boat tour aswell, they bring out fruit as well as getting up close with monkeys which was an unforgettable experience! Organised transport last minute for us for the next day which was very helpful. 10/10 would recommend !!!

An excellent way to see Negombo! Vishnud is a fantastic guide! The fish market, Hindu and Buddhist temples, St Mary’s Church, the fruit and vegetable market, Dutch Fort, Dutch canal, the lagoon, and everything in between. Highly recommend!

We definitely enjoyed our tour and our guide was very kind and accomodating. We got to feel the vibe of the city and see the main highlights, including the fish markets, the old port, St. Mary's, a buddhist temple and (my personal favorite, since it was a forst for me) a hindu temple. A lot to take in for a couple of hours so well worth the money (even the extra fee to be picked up from our hotel which was some kilometers outside the actual city of Negombo). Definitely recommend it!

January 10/26 On our second day in Negombo, we made the best choice booking Nishan’s TukTuk tour! We saw the fish market, Old Dutch Port, canal fishing boats, nets coming in with fresh catches, two Buddhist temples and St Mary’s Catholic Church. At our request, Nishan took us to a money changer and dropped us at a local eatery. Great 3 hours and we saw so many sites we would not have seen in our few days in Negombo. Nishan’s tour is the only Tuk Tuk tour you should book!
