Negombo Lagoon
Negombo Lagoon is a large estuarine lagoon in Negombo, south-west Sri Lanka. The lagoon is fed by a number of small rivers and a canal. It is linked to the sea by a narrow channel to the north, near Negombo city. It is surrounded by a densely populated region containing rice paddies, coconut plantations and grassland.

4.00Great experience! Terrific guide who explained things along the way, morning tea was plentiful and saw a great deal of wildlife most of which spotted by the guide or boat operator such as snakes, monkeys, and lizards.

4.00Great tour of the lagoon and mangroves. Delicious fruit morning tea, and I loved the fresh oyster straight from the lagoon. Knowledgeable, friendly guides, gave lots of history of the area and identified the birds. Saw some monkeys and a water monitor too

5.00We loved this lagoon tour with Raju! It was very interesting learning more about fishing and mangroves, and we got to see plenty of animals (different birds, macaques, water monitors, fish, hermit crabs, oysters). The stop to have some fruit and a king coconut drink in the water was wonderful. Would highly recommend!

5.00Wonderful trip! Our guide, Raugh, arrived to our hotel on time and was very courteous. He asked us about ourselves and told us about himself. We rode via TUK TUK to the canel where we caught the boat and met the boat captain. They worked well together. The trip on the water was relaxing. Because we are birders, he took the time to identify the birds for us and circled back if we didn’t get a good look. Fruit on the lagoon was a sweet bonus. We saw the Toque Macaque monkeys who came to visit us on the boat. Thank you for a fabulous first day in Sri Lanka!

5.00The great introduction to Colombo, Sri Lanka. My thanks to Raju and Mihndu for a memorable start to my holiday. Highlights of thid trip for me was the canals, the mangroves, the many birds, having fruit and fresh coconut served while sitting in the water and of course my favourite feeding the monkeys. Thank you Raju for my first Tuk Tuk ride on Sri Lanka and Mihndu thank you for sharing your knowledge and company on this trip.

5.00The entire organization was perfect, from the pick-up to the departure. A pleasant cruise around the lagoon, time for swimming, and a fruit picnic. The staff explains everything you want to know about the Dutch Canal and the lagoon. Highly recommended.
