I felt like it was a “you get what you pay for” situation.. The tour was to have been in English, however there were also Spanish speakers, which forced the tour operator to translate everything he said, which is fine, but this comes into play for our second vineyard. The first vineyard, Cune, was excellent. After that, our stop in the town of Haro was timed during siesta; nearly every shop and restaurant was closed. A few people were locked in the church briefly because they shut down, as well. It ate into time we could have spent in LaGuardia. The town looked AMAZING but the winery we tours seemed like a last minute, and disorganized, decision. Those speaking English went to one vineyard, while those speaking Spanish, went to a separate vineyard with our guide. The guide said he would go in to see if there was an English speaker to lead the tour. This led me to believe perhaps this was not our intended winery (the description did not indicate the specific vineyard, so I wasn’t entirely surprised). I won’t name where we went, but we were certainly left feeling the other group had a far different experience. All I can say is it was the most bizarre tour of any kind I’ve ever been on, to the point of hilarity. It certainly helped bond a bunch of us that had the same strange, surreal experience. Though the wine was good, the tour guide took so long explaining in a very drawn out (and very graphic) manner how the winery was founded, that we missed out on being able to explore more of this beautiful town. There was only time for an abbreviated lunch. Drop off was not the stated spot, which was frustrating. That said, it was at least half the price of other tours and we did get to see some beautiful scenery and enjoy the wine. However, I would splurge the next time.

On the whole an excellent trip. First winery visit was great . Second tasting was a bit boring as the man giving us the background of the winery was difficult to understand and his chat went on too long . We would have preferred more time to look around the pretty town of Laguardia. Stephane was a great guide and the driver was extremely polite and courteous - getting out to help people off the coach

Loved this tour which compared with other day tours in the region was cheap! The experience is not. Haro and Laguardia are charming and the wineries chosen both interesting. Tastings were paired with cheese and charcuterie. Our guide Estaphan was informative and entertaining, and kept us in line. Although we were on a large coach the drive was comfortable with good seating and a/c. The experience left us hungry (and thirsty) for more of la Rioja. Highly recommended.
