Malacca is an interesting place because of its history, but there isn't much to see. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history and gave us all the explanations about the history of the place and its colonization. The lunch location could be better and I think the free time after lunch could be shorter, especially because of the heat and the lack of places to sit (if you don't want to spend two hours looking for souvenirs). I think Malacca could be more interesting to spend more than one day, relaxing in a hotel and discovering the city's restaurants and bars, but on a day tour, I don't think it's worth it.

A great day trip from KL to Malacca. Our guide Johnson was excellent. He gave us plenty of information and recommendations on how to spend our free time. The trip was a good balance between a guided tour of the highlights and free time . We used our free time to go on a river cruise which Johnson gave us details of. The included lunch was delicious. Certainly recommend this tour to Malacca at a very reasonable cost.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip booked via Viator to Malacca. The pick up was punctual and our guide Johnson kept us engaged with the back stories of the history of Malacca. The town itself is quaint and laid- back.... a melting pot of the various influences of the colonial powers ( Portuguese, Dutch & British) and the immigrant communities ( Chinese, Indian, Indonesians etc) that have shaped the ethos and culture of Malacca. The lunch stop at a local Chinese restaurant was excellent. One of us was vegetarian and the owner of the restaurant had gone out of his way to ensure, that there were multiple vegetarian dishes served. This gesture was much appreciated. The initial sightseeing with the guide was a great way to see and get acquainted with the various places & areas worth visiting. We were also given enough time to explore (as per our interest) on our own. Would highly recommend doing the Malacca river cruise, (on additional payment during the free time given) as you get to see some innovative & colorful buildings and graffiti. There is also a running commentary on the cruise which gives information about the buildings and the area, as we pass them by. The only downside of the trip was the air conditioning on the bus which was freezing. The guide informed us that the temperature was preset and they had no ability to control or adjust the same. Overall this full day trip with lunch and hotel pick-up and drop from Kuala Lumpur, was really value for money and a great way to experience the history and beauty of Malacca in a day.
