Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are functioning mosques and they can be closed to visitors for any reason, even without pre-notice (for a high-level state visit, for example)

Nobody can skip the line at either of the mosques although our guides make it easier and more efficient because they do it every day.

Clients must arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start of the tour. This is due to the timed entry of the tickets.

Please be advised that it is not possible to join the tour after it has commenced.

Please note that women are required to wear a headscarf when entering the mosque.

Please note that both men and women should wear clothing that covers their shoulders and knees. Shorts, sleeveless tops, and other revealing attire are not permitted inside.

You are not allowed to bring signs, symbols, banners, flags, documents, drawings, or any materials representing political, ideological, or religious beliefs inside the Hagia Sophia.

Please note that skip-the-line access is available for adults only. Children under the age of 7 do not benefit from this access.

Please note that children under 7 are not permitted on this tour.

If Basilica Cistern is closed, we visit Şerefiye (cistern of Theodosius) or Binbirdirek (Cistern of Philoxenos).

Tips/gratuities (for your guide) are always appreciated.

For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of my tour guide and it pains me that Viator cannot provide that information. He was the BEST tour guide I experienced on this trip in Istanbul. He was polite, patient and extremely knowledgable. He purposely wore bright colors so we wouldn’t lose him, allowed lots of time for bathroom breaks, photos and questions, not that Q&A was even needed because he provided so many interesting details there were few questions to be asked. He not only explained the context of what we were seeing in a historical sense, but also for Turkish modern day culture. He could write a book.

Excellent tour! Kubra was an incredible guide. She's deeply knowledgeable about the sites, history, and culture, of course, but she's also a wonderful storyteller! If you're newer to walking tours, it's a lot of walking -- or if you landed in Istanbul the morning of your tour! I was deeply tired and in a bit of pain after a long flight and no sleep, so I almost left the tour early to rest. Kubra told me the last stop was one of her favorites and said she'd help me exit quickly if I wanted to take a peek. I'm so glad she encouraged me to stay -- it was such a beautiful and magical place! Don't hesitate to ask your guide questions. Ladies, for the Blue Mosque and Haggia Sophia, you will need a scarf to cover your head. Be prepared to take off your shoes at the Blue Mosque (socks encouraged!).

Oh I feel bad for not remembering my tour guide's name because I had a great time exploring and learning everything! I remember his name began with letter F; he provided us with ear pieces so we could hear him explain as we walked through historical places in our medium sized group. Omg, being able to skip those huge lines already made this tour worth it, haha. He had all of our tickets in advance and we entered almost instantaneously through a separate line. He gave us all of the information we could have ever needed about each site, answered my questions with great detail, and gave us time to look at each site after providing an explanation of each one. I didn't feel rushed. The experience was stimulating and interactive; he asked us questions and made it fun. I would book again! Thank you!
