I’d like to begin by saying I highly recommend Viator tour packages. I have experienced tours in Southeast Asia, Iceland and now Peru and I have found each tour to be thoroughly professional, educational and extremely enjoyable. Perhaps most importantly for some, these packages are affordable and well worth the cost. Some of the trips that I have booked through Viator with my family were last minute decisions and we have always been treated with respect and enthusiasm by knowledgable guides and support staff. Viator tour packages have many moving parts with many individuals playing key roles in making sure you have a great time, so if you see a tour that catches your interest, go for it! You most likely will not regret the decision. For our Machu Picchu excursion, we were contacted by our shuttle service the day before our trip, as well as the morning of, and picked up at our Airbnb on time. (Having WhatsAp installed on your phone is a good way to be in contact with your tour guides while in a foreign location. That was true on this morning as a clarification was needed regarding the specific location of our Airbnb address.) The shuttle to the Puroy Train Station took no longer than a half hour and communication with our guide was clear and professional. The shuttle guide made sure that we had our passports and our shuttle, train & bus (roundtrips) and Machu Picchu entrance tickets loaded onto our phones. Note: Bring a portable phone charger if you can. Although we made use of a charging station at the Machu Picchu Train Station prior to our return to Cusco, there was no outlet at our seats on the train, bus or shuttle. The guide and station personnel made sure we caught the correct train to Aguascalientes, and although the 3 1/2 hour trip is long, the seats were comfortable, the entertainment was memorable and the views were spectacular. On this trip we even received complimentary hats/tiaras, snacks and mini pisco bottles w/shot glasses in draw string pouches. This portion of the trip was without a guide, but we were in good hands with the conductors while on the train. Once in Aguascalientes, we departed the train and found our group name on a sign held by another person in this process who then set us up with our own personal Machu Picchu guide for the next 4 hours. Our guide led us to one of the many large Mercedes buses that then took us and others up to the gates of Machu Picchu along a series of switchbacks that offered fantastic scenic views as we ascended. Our personal guide spoke good English and the stories/information that he passed on gave us a deeper appreciation for what we were seeing & experiencing. He even took fun/artistic pics of our family at certain key points on the tour. These pictures are now cherished reminders of our time spent at this awe inspiring UNESCO site. (Don’t forget to have some cash on hand in order to tip the guide once you leave Machu Picchu park as you will separate from your guide once you return to Aguascalientes.) We had time in Aguascalientes to get our passports stamped w/ a Machu Picchu stamp and to eat at one of the many restaurants. (Again, you may only be able to pay for your meal in cash, so take cash out the day before this trip as the ATM machine in Aguascalientes had a line of at least 35 people!) We were at the Aguascalientes Train Station by the recommended time listed on our ticket. (There is a recommended time to be at the station that is different than the actual train departure time.) Getting to the station early helped to ensure we could get seats in the small station waiting room and time to recharge our phones. On this occasion the return train to Poroy was a little late, but once we boarded, we were happy to just get some sleep. For those who still desired further stimulation, however, there was more opportunity for entertainment, gifts, and snacks on the return trip. At Poroy Train Station we disembarked and again found a person holding a sign with our name on it who loaded us into the same type of shuttle that had picked us up in the morning and we were driven back to the door of our Airbnb. I highly recommend this package for people who are visiting Cusco and are not willing or able to hike the IncaTrail. There is very little room for confusion on this tour. It is comfortable, easy to navigate, and the price is very affordable considering the amount of people ensuring an enjoyable and safe trip for you and your family or friends as you journey to experience this magnificent World Wonder!

Very long day and you need to decide if it's worth it. Also weather can be cloudy and foggy so see if you can book one flexible otherwise your pictures will not be that great. Also your guide may not be with you start to finish. Can be difficult to navigate nd get on the right train and buses along they way especially if you speak no Spanish. Most toilets you must pay and the ones on the way are freezing cold a 6 am and most with no toilet seats. Bring extra toilet paper to line the porcelain. Our guide Edgar was good so no issues with him. Just a long confusing day and poor weather.

Pick up from the hotel was good. We enjoyed the 360 train. The tour guide explained everything to us, took pictures for both of us. He was helping us with the steps, cared for our safety. Outstanding experiences.

My tour to Machu Picchu with Vipac was wonderful. You will receive all of your tickets 1 day before through email. We got picked up at our Cusco hotel at 5:30am. We were driven to Poroy station and took the 3.5 hour expedition train to Aquas Calientes. We met up with a Vipac agent outside of the train station and he introduced us to our tour guide. The tour guide then led us to the bus and we took the 30 minute drive to Machu Picchu. He did a wonderful job guiding us on tour 2B. It did rain when we got up there but the views were still excellent. I would definitely recommend tour option 2a or 2b. You get fantastic view points and access to the city. We even came across some llamas. The tour itself lasted about 2 hours and we had a few hours to kill in Aquas Calientes before our train ride back. Once you get back to Poroy station, a Vipac agent is waiting to take you back to your hotel. We ended up back home around 9:30pm. It was a long but fantastic trip.
