4.00A good tour stopping at Castelmola and driving the windy roads to Taormina. the driver and tour escort were both very personable and we loved the areas we explored. BUT despite everyone on the bus querying the time we were to leave Taormina and asking to leave earlier, the tour did not depart back until too late, and caused considerable stress on the return journey that we would not be back in time for the cruise ship departure. Final boarding was 3.30 and we only drove in to the port at 3.29. There was still a 5-10 min walk to go through security and board. The only saving grace was the cruise lines own tour also arrived at the same time and they waited for them. I did not find this acceptable and stress that anyone doing this tour (supposedly guarantee back to port on time) make sure they have assurances on time prior to departure.

5.00Our Guide Anna was excellent, very knowledgeable about the area and Sicily as a whole. She was very friendly and personable. The areas we saw were very beautiful and we had a nice mix of tour time and free time.

3.00This tour got off to a very bad start! The guide texted us to say she was at gate 5 at 8:15 but she arrived about 8:35 am! We were ready to go. The original paperwork said it started at 9:30am but we got an update the day before stating 9:00am. There were 6 in our party and the other 4 didn’t arrive until 9:20 am. Viator needs to stick with the info originally provided as everyone does not pay for internet in a foreign country and can’t get updates. Once in the van the driver tried to strap a large speaker (small boombox) on the back of a headrest and it would have blasted my hubby in the face had it worked. However, it kept saying “needs charging” so could not be used! We were not happy with how this started. The guide was good but seemed to keep rushing us along at each stop. For instance, we wanted to get some drink, snack, souvenir at the Godfather shooting location but did not have a chance. We finally were given 2 hours at the last stop to eat and shop. On other small excursions we have been on, especially in the Caribbean, the van has a cooler of bottled water available for free. I would think Viator could have guides provide this with the price we are paying! Overall we saw what we wanted to see and guide was good at explaining sites. It is a good tour but needs better execution.

5.00Our tour guide Anna and the bus driver were very, very nice and cordial throughout the entire experience. Anna was very informed about her country, culture and rich history of Sicily. She is very passionate about being a tour guide and it bubbles from the inside and out to whoever is listening. We covered as much territory as 5 hours would allow since we needed to be back to the ship by 3 PM. From Messina to the sight where the famous God Father movie was filmed and the many shopping opportunities along the narrow streets of Taormina. And let’s not forget the hill side terrain of Sicily. This was an appetizer tour and we’ll have to come back when we have at least a week to hang .was a appetizer tour and we’ll have to come back when we have at least a week to fully experience, Thanks again, Anna for a wonderful experience. It was short but sweet. !!!
