Meet at the workshop in Valencia, where you can see the materials used in making the shoes alongside some finished products.
Let the artisans introduce you to the history of these shoes. Find out how they went from humble beginnings to modern fashion trend.
Next, choose a size, lace color and preferred style for your own pair of espadrilles. When you're ready, you'll be guided on the stitching process and learn the different ways of lacing them up.
After you're finished, you'll have your own pair of self-made espadrilles. Take them home and show them off as a wearable memory of your time in Valencia.

Awarded in 2019 and 2020 as TOP10 Worldwide Experiences. During this very unique workshop, all guests will stitch their own Spanish Espadrilles, which they will keep as the most special souvenir of their trip. Our guests become artisans for 90 minutes. All guests will meet at a real espadrilles workshop, in the emblematic Plaça de la Reina, surrounded by a whole universe of tradition and history. Two artisans will lead the workshop and will show and assist on not only how to make the espadrilles, but also how to wear them in different traditional ways according to Spanish culture. It is local, unique, special, fun, and something that only an insider could get. Be prepared to be amazed, captivated, and surprised by the owners, they are fun and engaging and they know all that is to know about espadrilles.

5.00I can't say enough wonderful things about this experience. It ended up just being my boyfriend and myself and it was incredible! We learned so much and had fun designing our shoes. Plus, they were so kind, so educated, and absolutely made this a once in a lifetime experience. No you aren't building espadrilles from scratch (because that would literally take days), but learning about them and what each design means was still unforgettable.

1.00EXTREMELY MISLEADING!!! You don't make espadrilles at all, and the photo showing a person cutting fabric - total lie! They give you a pair of "already made" espadrilles and then you decorate them with a piece of ribbon by putting it in an out of holes you make, like a child's sewing board. The only thing that approximates any construction, put loosely, is replacing the beige ribbon to tie the espadrilles with a colored ribbon you add by putting holes in the shoes to attach them. Also, the ribbon is shiny cheap polyester, and leaves the espadrilles looking cheap and very low quality. I doubt anyone would wear them.

4.00You aren’t actually making espadrilles so much as you are decorating and making the laces that tie around your ankle and secure the shoe. However, you do learn about the history of espadrilles, which is so interesting and rooted in both culture and fashion. It’s fun to pick out your type and color shoe and the ribbons. Also, the people who teach you and work with you are so friendly and make the experience memorable. They serve you sparkling wine with a small charcuterie platter along with bottled water and sweets that just hit the spot. I highly recommend this experience that has the added benefit of creating a personalized and practical souvenir!
