The day before the tour starts, your guide will contact you on behalf of our agency (Howlanders), to notify you of your pick-up time at your accommodations in El Calafate, (due to the tour’s different departure times throughout the morning). When the group has been gathered, you’ll head to the port ‘Bajo Las Sombras’, which is a few miles (kilometers) from the glacier viewpoint. If you do not select the package that includes the transfer, you’ll meet the group directly at Puerto Bajo Las Sombras, inside Los Glaciares National Park. From the port, we’ll take a boat and sail along the awe-inspiring south wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. After disembarking, the guides will organize us into groups and begin the short walk to the Glacier. The guide will then assist hikers with their crampons, thus beginnning the incredible trek through the ice of one of the world’s most impressive glaciers.

Perito Moreno Glacier

For about an hour and a half, the group will traverse the glacier with our guides leading us on firm and safe trails. On these trails, we’ll have the opportunity to see the crevices, moulins (glacier sinkholes), and small blue lagoons located on the glacier. Throughout the tour, our guide will inform us of the many glacier landslides, as well as the endemic fauna and flora of the region.

Had a great time as guides gave us instruction on how to be safe on the ice and informed us quite a bit on the environment. It was fun and insightful. They gave us plenty of time to take pictures.
Cheers over whisky on ice crystal, with a view atop the glacier.

On January 19th, 2026, the two tour guides were excellent and patient as they led us on our ice hiking adventure. At the top, we enjoyed a glass of whiskey on the pristine ice crystals. We highly recommend ice hiking on the Perito Moreno Glacier.

It is an unforgettable experience for those who go to the glacier! The tour includes gloves to avoid hurting your hands and clamps for shoes, so you can walk on the ice, so even if your sneakers are only waterproof, you can do it.

We spent three days in the Calafate area and booked multiple tours with Patagonia Chic. The Minitrekking 2.0 excursion on Perito Moreno glacier was a highlight of our vacation. The journey lasts the entire day, with about three hours on the actual glacier. The itinerary is well-paced with narrated bus rides and boat rides observation walkways, periods of intensity in the glacier, etc. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the pace was perfect. At age 50, I was the oldest and least fit person in the group, but it was totally fine. Patagonia Chic is an extremely well-run company with A+ communication before, during, and after the tours. Excellent value. Highly recommend this excursion.

It's one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had in my life, worth the price. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to trek on this glacier guided by experts. I appreciate the support of our guide Marcelo, for taking care of us. It was the first time I had used crampons and the explanations were very clear. Tami’s explanation of the glaciers and which trails to travel once inside the park was also very good. I recommend this experience, it is wonderful and one of the most special days of my life.

Absolutely incredible! The views were spectacular. The tour guide we had, Nico, was great. Very knowledgable, kind, and funny. Make sure you bring layers as it rained and was windy during our tour. Some people brought a change of clothes, which was a great idea. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to all!

The company that actually provides the tour is Hielo & Aventura. Everything, from the bus to the boat and even the helmets—belongs to them, so there’s no need for intermediaries. After completing the tour, I realized that booking through Viator had been a mistake, as the operator’s own price was about 120 USD lower. The tour itself, however, was excellent. Thank you to Hielo & Aventura for the great experience.

A very memorable experience! The bus service was great , the tour guides were very well knowledgeable and friendly. You take a catamaran very close to the glacier, then it’s a bout a 1 mile hike to the area where they put the crampons on. It’s breathtaking up there a cool experience. Expensive excursion for sure but worth it. No lunch is provided so bring your own.
