Abadia de Montserrat

Get on the road and head to the mystic mountain of Montserrat. This natural park, with its very peculiar peaks, protects the spiritual essence of Catalonia. For almost 1,000 years, a Benedictine community has lived in these mountains located 60 km away from Barcelona. Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Black Virgin of Montserrat (the famous “Moreneta”), the saint patron of Catalonia, a polychrome Romanesque carving of the 12th century. On the way, listen to interesting stories about Catalonia and its bounding to the holy mountain, scene of pilgrims since ancient times and part of the route to Santiago de Compostela. Your guide will share important information to understand the heritage you will discover during the tour.

Once you reach the monastery, you have plenty of options and your guide will always adjust to your interests. Xavier was a fantastic guide. Incredibly knowledgeable, with a deep passion for the history, culture, & places thay we visited - Cardona, Salt Mountain, and Montserrat. We left with a deep understanding and appreciation for these sites and areas of Catalonia.

We had a GREAT time and mostly it was because of our guide, Xavier! He was very knowledgeable of the sites we visited - Cardona, Salt Mine and Montserrat. These things are magical on their own but when coupled with a guide who can thoroughly explain the history and significance of them, it makes it an unbelievable tour!

Xavi was the best tour guide! His love of the country and the history that goes with made our day one of a kind. He is thoughtful and customized our day....making sure we did everything AND got great pictures. When we are in Barcelona again we will book again with In Out and request Xavi as our guide.

We drove to Cardona Castle first. This gives a nice view over the Old City of Cardona and the Salt Mine. We had some spare time, so Marcel took us to Santuari del Miracle. It's a beautiful church on a pilgrim trail. We then returned to Cardona for a walk through the Old City and to have lunch. We were then ready for the Salt Mine. A terrific experience. It was the highlight of the day for me. We drove back to Montserrat, standing proudly on the top of the beautiful hills of the mountain. It certainly is a picturesque place to visit. Marcel made our day a spectacular success. Thanks for everything, Marcel

Gaspar is an amazing anti-tour guide! This didn’t feel like a tour at all. It was more of a trip around the towns of Barcelona with a family member. He is knowledgeable and so funny. We had an awesome day! Thank you Gaspar ❤️ 🤗

The vehicle was way too small for four passengers. Language was a huge barrier our guide did not speak good English. The salt mine tour was not in English either very frustrating.!
