Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle is right in the heart of Nagoya, and is very famous for its golden shachihoko (a mythical creature with a tiger's head and carp's body) figures on the roof. Ieyasu Tokugawa, the first shogun who established the Edo shougunate, built it in 1521. The main part of the castle was rebuilt after the war, and now you can climb to the top to feel like being a shogun to govern the country.
Atsuta Jingu Shrine
Atsuta Jingu Shrine is the second highest rank shrine of Japan, founded in the 8th century. It occupies a big area with huge woods in the metropolitan atomosphere of Nagoya, and there are always many people coming for all kinds of prayers. The woods are full of sacred and reverent feelings, and makes you feel something divine inside yourself, too.

Our guide, Kuni, was excellent. He suggested that we buy a day ticket for our tour & it made it so much easier to travel from one place to another. He was knowledgeable, friendly & very attentive. We would highly recommend him.

We were lucky to have Sammy as our guide for our tour of Nagoya. Our group of seven got to visit the Nagoya Castle, which was the highlight of the day. We then went over to see the Atsuta Shrine, followed by a visit to the Osukannon Temple and Osukannon Arcade for food and shopping. Sammy was a wealth of knowledge, and we were so happy to find out that she was a Nagoya native. She was super sweet and took great care of us. We took the subway to all of these places, so it was awesome to travel like a local.

Yoko gave us a wonderful tour of the city. Although the Toyota museum was closed, he offered a very nice alternative samauri museum for us to visit. He also took us to a shrine and let us try a traditional Nagoya fried pork meal which was outstanding. Wonderful, wonderful day! Thank you, Yoko, for making our trip special!

Nagoya was an awesome tour thanks to Sammy. She made the trip worth wild from her easy translation to guiding us through the local transit system. She made it a very productive and worth wild day for which the family learned a lot in Nagoya. Thumbs up all around.
