And then there’s dessert — the bright, chewy, coconutty world of Nyonya Kueh, each bite a small, edible heirloom. I’ll take you to places even some locals haven’t found, hawker stalls tucked in alleyways, family-run shops with recipes older than the buildings they’re in, and hidden gems where every dish has a story.
