I highly recommend this experience. Mr. Mok and Amy were wonderful hosts and it was like cooking with your parents. The food was delicious!

This was a great workshop. The cuisine is part of family tradition but I never knew how to prepare them. Amy was a great instructor, patient and knowledgeable. Her husband, Mr Mok, was a great tour leader and explained clearly what each ingredient we saw in the produce and meat market was called and used for.

We had a great time with our hosts, Mok & Amy who were helped by some wonderful assistants. We were a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 11 & 13 and this class catered for everyone. It stated with a market tour getting an insight into local ingredients, a stop for breakfast and coffee and on to the cooking class covering traditional Nyonya foods like Char Kway Teow & Chicken Curry Kapitan. 100% recomend

This tour is operated by a lovely family- Amy is the wife and the chef and the husband, Mr. Mok & son, Simon, were the tour guides. Mr. Mok also was out unofficial photographer and videographer and sent all the pictures and videos immediately after the trip. The morning market was so informative and they included a quick typical Malaysian street food breakfast in the market before the class. The cooking class was fun and we had a great meal at the end from homemade tea to appetizer to main courses to dessert. If I had anything negative to say, it was that the cooking class was a bit hotter than we are used to back in the States but they had multiple fans & cooling systems going and tried their best to keep us cool. The whole family was so kind and accommodating, making every effort to make sure we were having a good time & comfortable. I would highly recommend! With the morning market, it was a long tour. I think we ended closer to 3pm after starting at 8:10am but we really enjoyed it. It’s also very close to Georgetown so you can go explore afterward.

Amazing experience.....tour of the local food market, today 14/3/26, was very informative and interesting (thank you Mr Mok) and the cooking class was fantastic. Thank you Amy. Can't recommend this highly enough. A "MUST DO" before you leave George Town. Something not to be missed. DON'T eat beforehand!! S-J and Mike.

We have done several cooking classes in Asian countries before but this one stood out by a mile. Not only was the food delicious, but it was also very informative and funny! The tour started with a great and lengthy tour around the local market, showing and tasting fresh ingredients along with great stories. After the market tour, we had a wonderful cooking class creating great food and having lots of fun in the meanwhile! Thank you so much!

Absolutely fantastic experience, started with a market tour and tried a few local dishes (they will tell you to come hungry - take the advice!), then learned to cook a lot of local dishes. Learned loads about the history and culture throughout, absolutely wonderful hosts! Really recommend this class ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the pleasure of joining Nyonya Amy’s Cooking Class in Penang, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. Amy and Mok, and were incredibly warm, welcoming, and passionate about sharing their knowledge of Nyonya cuisine and culture. The class was very well organized, with clear explanations and hands-on guidance throughout. We didn’t just cook, we learned about the history and traditions behind each dish, which made the experience even more meaningful. The ingredients were fresh, the techniques were explained in detail, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The food we prepared was absolutely delicious, authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was such a rewarding experience to cook everything ourselves and then enjoy the meal together. As someone who brings clients to Penang, I am always looking for high-quality cultural experiences, and this class exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be bringing my future clients here so they can enjoy the same wonderful experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Penang who wants an authentic, hands-on culinary adventure!
