This tasty stretch of 9th Street has been home to a curbside market since the 1800's, and has served as a backbone of this community for generations. Listen as your expert local guide tells some amazing stories of the market's past while you delight in 5 delectable bites that show-off the local flavor.

Our tour guide Heather was wonderful. She was a lot of fun to be with and gave us so much history and information about the places we visited and the food we tasted. Together, we discovered so many special stores for all different kinds of food and now we have a much better understanding of this wonderful area of Philadelphia. Heather really made this tour top notch and I would highly recommend it to everyone!

I got this tour as a Christmas gift for my Dad and it did not disappoint. We went on the tour the day before New Year’s Eve so we were the only ones which was quite an amazing and intimate experience. James was our tour guide and was super professional and knowledgeable about all things South Philly from the food to the areas history and he alsoq had a great sense of humor. I won’t spoil the adventure for anyone reading this review, but what I will say is that the food we ate was fantastic. We also had the chance to go into some quaint local shops which was definitely an additional perk. All in all, if you enjoy food and history I would highly recommend that you go on this tour!

Great experience didn’t know the market was down there. Also from not eating breakfast or lunch we were filled up by the end of it. Chick was awesome and very informative.

I attended the South Philly Italian Market Food tour with a group of friends and one additional solo traveler (10 people in total). Chuck Brutsche was our amazing tour guide - so knowledgeable about the area and its history, great storyteller, and just all-around very friendly and accommodating. The $59 fee was well worth it for the variety and VERY generous portions of the foods that we received. We assumed that we'd be sharing the portions amongst several people and ate a light breakfast that morning. Had we known that we'd each get our own giant slices of pizza, banh mi sandwiches, cannoli, gelato, and more....we would have stuck with just coffee for breakfast to save room. Saying we were full by the end of the tour would be a huge understatement. The one noticeable omission is a Philly cheesesteak since they have a separate tour for those. Otherwise, 10 out of 10 stars, definitely recommend and will seek Chuck out as a guide for future tours next time we're in Philly.
