Good for avoiding crowds, we guide small groups that give you a more local immersion personalized experience. The quality of our guides, wines and the wineries visited stand out from other tours.

The tour begins with a visit to a port wine producer: Quinta da Roêda. There will be a personalized guided tour on the vineyards where the process of making the port wine will be explained. The wine tasting will be accompanied by a careful selection of Portuguese cheeses.

After tasting, we will embark 1 hour boat ride where the calm of the river will inspire us. This soothing ride is the best time to contemplate the landscape and nature of the Douro Valley.

Lunch is served in a beautiful farm overlooking to the vineyards where there are several food options: fish, meat or vegetarian. Everything are included in the price.

The second winery is a small table wine producer, It will be an interesting opportunity to have more contact with the locals. The visit ends with an olive oil tasting.

Sergio made our tour something we will remember for years to come. I can’t imagine coming to Porto and not doing this wine tour. Even if you don’t know much about wine you will be given a tour from knowledgeable, friendly people from the tour guide to the owners of the winery. We felt very well cared for and we learned so much about wine and the region’s history. I will definitely recommend it to others.

Great trip and guide. Only negative was young kids in our group ( 5/6yrs old) who got bored at wine tastings ( not surprising and understandable) who ran around yelling. Made some of what should have been relaxing experience a bit grating. Other than that great trip. Excellent venues, food and wines. Thank you.

Our day began with an informative drive from Porto to the Duoro Valley with an extraordinary guide, Sergio. We traveled in a small group in a very comfortable minivan. We first visited a charming hillside Quinta, Panascal, for a tasting of their port wines after an orientation of the cellars by Sergio. We next boarded a boat from Pinhao for an hour on the Duoro River. Lunch was an unexpected delight at the remarkable Casa dos Barros (and our host Rita was a ray of sunshine). Our last stop was to Vilarinho de Sao Romano for a very entertaining cellar door tour by the charming Amilcar. He was entertaining and informative throughout our tastings of their wines, olive oil and honeys. The entire day was at a relaxed pace, with time at each stop perfect. Thank you, Sergio and Portugal Excellence Tours for the perfect day, which exceeded my expectations.

This was hands down the best tour we’ve done on our Portugal trip. Isabelle was an incredible guide—fun, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the local food and culture. We tried amazing dishes and drinks we never would’ve discovered on our own, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. Great pacing, great energy, and a really memorable night. This was an absolutely magical day! Our guide Marcelo (hope I spelled his name correctly) was so gracious and thoughtful. The other members of our small group were lovely and we had much fun together. The wineries we visited created what felt like very intimate experiences and lunch was tasty. The views of the Duoro Vally in the fall are stunning! 😍🥰

This was a lovely day with many activities and a lot of alcohol. We received quite a bit of information, and it was a relaxing day. The boat tour was definitely a good addition.

Great trip. Very informational. We appreciated the small group experience. Only downside was the driver drove too fast. We were flying past every other car on the road. There was no need to drive this fast and risk the safety of the everyone. The guide was lovely, but the unsafe driving ruined it for us. He was driving 140-150 kilometers and I got sick in the back seat. It was so bad we contemplated taking a 200 euro uber back to Porto.
