Haedong Yonggungsa is a breathtaking temple located on the coast of Busan, making it one of the most unique temples in South Korea. Founded in 1376, this temple stands out from others that are typically nestled in the mountains, as it is situated right by the sea, offering a completely different atmosphere. The temple's name, which translates to "East Sea Dragon Palace Temple," is rooted in a legend that a dragon ascended from the sea to bring divine energy to the area. One of the temple's most captivating features is the harmonious blend of the temple's architecture with the stunning coastal scenery. To reach the temple, visitors must descend 108 steps, and as they do, they are greeted by a breathtaking view of the sea. Haedong Yonggungsa is especially famous as a prime spot to watch the sunrise, with many visitors arriving early in the morning to witness the spectacular scene of the sun rising over the East Sea, casting its golden light over the temple.

Jason picked us up at the port in Busan. Our adventure begins at an ocean side Shrine. We had. Visited shrines and temples before but this one was gorgeous. We could tell That Jason was very proud of his city. Very knowledgeable and informative. He took us off the beaten track and we experienced some scary roads in the local areas. The views were incredible. We also visited a local fish market and enjoyed fresh fish. It’s was remarkable. One minute the fish was in a tank and several minutes later it was on a plate. Wow! It was delicious. Thank you Jason. I highly recommend this tour. PS Jason is an excellent driver

Min was a great. Most places are free to enter so basically you are paying for a private driver and a history lesson. I definitely would change the place where we had lunch. It was located next to the parking garage near the international market/BIFF area. The restaurant had a musty smell upon entering but got better after they turned on the air conditioner. We were the only patrons. The food was not the best quality and I did get sick from eating it. Since it was a private tour, I would have liked to eat some of the street food in the market. Next time I will be more outspoken (lesson learned for future private tours).

Very nice way of getting a glimpse of Busan. Was a bit rushed as the 2 attractions were in opposite directions. Our tour guide, Lucy, was very warm and knowledgeable

We had a great day in Busan, and our tour guide Grace was terrific, as she focused on ensuring we saw as much as we could in the limited time we had, including picking us up early at the port. Starting the day early allowed us to be one of the first tourists at the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, which is located on the sea and is simply breathtaking. We didn’t enjoy the Blue Line Capsule ride very much: it was very hot and the cars aren’t air conditioned and although the views are nice, they probably aren’t worth the 45-minute time investment. Grace gave us a great tour of the Gamcheon Culture Village including an off-the-main street detour that few of the tourists get to enjoy. We ended the day walking around various markets and had one of the most unique lunch experiences we’ve ever had at the Jagalchi Fish Market.
