Enjoy this short trip just one hour outside of Shanghai to the serene charm of Zhujiajiao ancient water town. On this 4 1/2 hour tour you'll ride a gondola beneath ancient bridges and stroll Qing dynasty streets and explore Ming and Qing dynasty architecture while diving into local shops. Along the way you'll sample local delicacies such as sticky rice dumplings (zong zi) and steamed pork wrapped in bamboo leaves (zha rou) as well as traditional Chinese candies. This tour also includes a relaxing site-filled gondola ride.

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town

Zhujiajiao is a water town just an hour outside of Shanghai. It was established about 1,700 years ago. It features 36 stone bridges and numerous rivers line Zhujiajiao, and many ancient buildings still line the riverbanks today. The many shops nestled into the historic buildings and stone streets lined are bustling with with food vendors. Gondola rides along the canals are popular activities.

This was my favorite village that we visited. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I wish I could have stayed there longer because it felt way too fast. Tour guide was very friendly.

Troy was an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable, kind and helpful. We saw Watertown, went on a gondola and ate a sticky rice dumpling. The next day we went to see the Jade Buda Temple, the Bund and shopping. Troy had lots of patience. Then we had a wonderful lunch. I tasted different kinds of dumplings. Shanghai has been the greatest experience. Thank you Jenny’s Tours and my wonderful guide Troy! Doris

Bill is a great guide, took me to Water town village, we took a boat, and Chinese Garden, explained the history, Thanks for the coffee. Highly recommended.

This operator is amazing with his guides in 8ngles and Spanish, this tour is short but magnificent and also the village is very nice, recommended!!!

Hi Jenny, just arrived in London from Shanghai and a lovely two days sightseeing with Cathy & Mr Tao! Cathy is a lovely young lady and an excellent guide - she made our sightseeing an absolute delight. Mr Tao is a very responsible & competent driver, & so we also used him to drive us to the airport on departure. Cathy checked with us regularly throughout each day to make sure we were happy with what we were seeing, and that the pace was not too fast. After the city center in Shanghai, we were transported to a different place and time. From the calming and quiet boat ride, to strollling through the ancient streets, to trying some amazing food, the trip was a very pleasant glimpse into the past.
