It was a wonderful day, a lot of laughter, good food, and great sight seeing. My tour guide Cindy was a great person to travel with. Communication was easy. She picked me up at my hotel. Everything was done just right - with no time wasted. We went to the West Lake, The West Lake Hotel, Mao Ze Dong's garden where he studied English, then to a temple, a short hike, then to a really delicious country restaurant for lunch. Afterwards we tasted tea at a tea farm. Along the way, I got to see the Bullet Train. Cindy was really open to any sort of questions, and she was just a great companion to travel with. She didn't even lose her cool when my payment system failed initially (when I tried to pay her for the train tickets and a gratuity). She just left. But we got the payment worked out ok at the end. Cindy also did not push for me to give a positive review. But I would 100% recommend this tour with Cindy, and in fact if I'm ever back in China, I would go with Cindy again to see other sites / organized trips - I have the confidence that she could arrange a fabulous trip to your specifications.

Everything was great. Cindy met us at the hotel and got us to the train. We were met in Hangzhou by another guide who did a wonderful tour and both us back to the train at the end of the day.

The tour used Dimmi for transport, so the guide spent a lot of time on the phone organising pickups. A bit of hard sales pressure at the tea house. Lake cruise ok but smoggy. Seeing the tea fields was interesting. Lunch at local farmers included being given dishes then left alone.

Hangzhou was a highlight and not to be missed. The tour is very well organised and we used every minute of that day to the fullest. What an Amazing place!

To start off Viator says we must contact our local guide to ensure local pickup at a hotel and only gives a phone option to do so. We only had phone data service so wasn't able to call the number, but luckily the number popped up in WeChat where our guide confirmed everything was all good. My only criticism is that we should be able to do everything online prior to the tour - but not our tour guides fault at all. Our guide, Cindy, met us at the hotel and picked us up in a private car. It was a small tour of just me and my wife, so Cindy stayed with us the entire time. We did everything in the itinerary, so I don't think I need to rehash all of that - but it was a really good trip and we both felt like we were visiting Hangzhou with a knowledgeable friend. Next time I am in Shanghai I will definitely see what other tours are available!
