Visit the Bridge on the River Kwai on this thorough private tour from Bangkok. The beginning of the Death Railway (also known as the Burma Railway), the famous bridge that spans Thailand’s River Kwai is a poignant reminder of the thousands of prisoners of war and forced laborers who lost their lives during the construction of the railway in World War Two. With a private guide, discover the bridge, the JEATH War Museum and Allied War Grave, and take a long-tailed boat ride on the river before sightseeing the picturesque nature sceneries on board a train riding on the tracks built by the prisoners of World War II. Local Lunch in a restaurant is included.

We enjoyed all the history. It was sad but also interesting. It was a long day but it was worth it. Our guide was a very kind man and very knowledgeable about the events. The long tail boat was fun, we saw a lot of monitors and water buffalo. Lunch was good. Plenty of food. The train ride was very nice we enjoyed going through the countryside. We were able to shop at a little market that was right off the river Kwai bridge. I recommend this to all the history buffs out there.

  • Respectful, humbling experience. A must do tour.

Our guide, Kiat with 30 years experience on this tour, we were so lucky to have had the pleasure in being paired with our guide. Friendly, professional, so happy, Kiat explained every detail to us on the way as we stared the tour. We were looked after so well. The tour was a sad and humbling experience about the POW’s, history on WW2, the life and unfortunate death of the POW’s making of the Burma railway. Included in our tour was a long tail boat ride, train ticket for travel on the bridge on the River Kwai, local buffet lunch. Extra details were given about the surrounding areas, agriculture and the local people. We really had a great day. Our driver, Amnat took us in an air conditioned van through out the tour and waited for us to return after certain activities. Highly recommended. A++ Thank you, from Australia!

  • This was supposed to be an important part of my Bangkok trip. Unfortunately it fell very short

We went to all the sights but, the guide knew very little about the Thai Burma Railway & prisoner of war camps from the perspective of the 2nd WW. All he could really explain was that the railway was built between Burma & Thailand & who had paid for it (ie the Japanese). Nothing about the forced local labour & the POW medics who had looked agter them in the 'coolie camps'. For an Australian paying respects to those who gave the uktimate sacrifice, the private tour fell a long way short.

  • Long day but worth it

We booked this tour as a private party of 3. I would definitely recommend this as the journey time from Bangkok was 2.5 hours there and 3.5 hours back, so it would be much longer with further drops offs/pick ups. The mini bus was amazing with reclining seats meaning we could sleep on the way back, it’s a very long day. Our tour guide was fabulous, giving us lots of information but also giving us the time to look at sites of interest. We never felt rushed. The tour was fabulous from start to finish. The cemetery was quite emotional to see, especially the young ages on the memorial stones. We had a visit to the museum which was good, then a long boat ride along the river Kwai to the bridge which was amazing. The river Kwai bridge, again was emotional to see thinking of those who suffered in constructing the original. We then had a train journey along the railway line for 1.25 hours, then stopped for lunch at a most beautiful site with amazing views. The lunch was fabulous. We really had a most amazing day.
