The tour goes to Urquhart castle AND Glen Ord distillery - home of the Singleton malt whisky. Our tours are specially put together after taking feedback from YOU. We have surveyed your desires and requests and put them together in our tours. Our guides will impart their knowledge of their local Highlands and answer any of your questions.
As a general rule tours leave 30 minutes to 1.5 hours after the arrival of the ship and return at least 45 minutes to 1 hour before ship departure time. Please check our website which has the exact tour departure and return times for every tour.
Tours offered based on Outlander and Castle themes as well as historic value. This tour includes a visit to a whisky distillery. Usual Glen Ord but on occasions it might be swapped to Balblair. It packs in a lot for one day and is very affordable and good value for money.
Please note in order to enter the distillery tour you must be 18 or over. Any children may wait in the shop area.

5.00An amazing adventure with Thistle bookings and Mike our tour guide was fantastic. We arrived at the port location 30 minutes early Mike was fully dressed in his family’s kilt ready to go. With the six of us filling the van we were off for our 8 hour adventure. A stop in the town center allowed us to walk around for almost an hour to walk along the river as well, before our stop at Loch Ness. We then drove to the Urquhart Castle and had an hour to walk around and explore. The views are spectacular and the history so interesting. Since Mike lives in the area he was very knowledgeable about the history and shared many stories with us as we continued our scenic drive to the Scottish Whiskey tasting. the tour of the distillery was quite enjoyable and the three tastings a nice selection. We ended back at the port and took the free 5 minute bus back to our ship. Our only complaint would be that the a/c in the van belonging to Thistle needs service, as it was not working properly.

5.00This is a terrific excursion. 1. Pickup: You take a shuttle from the ship and the tour guide is waiting right there. Our guide Michael got us started right then, even though it was only 9:45 and the tour wasn’t supposed to start until 10:30 am. 2. Content: as described but it was even better. Michael stopped a couple of times to tell us about a particular time in history and/or pointed out a good photo stop. 3. Personality: Michael was just THE BEST tour guide/driver! He made the day fun by regaling us with folklore stories and just had a jovial way about himself. We had a great time with him. Overall, if you want to get as much in as you can in Invergordon with as little hassle as possible, take this tour. It’s great!

5.00We were met at the ship as agreed and our guide June took us to the car. She then asked what we were interested in and customized our tour to suit. She was friendly and knowledgable and really made the tour a fun and easy experience for us. At the end, she dropped us back in Invergordon and gave us some tips about the town. A great experience for us. Thanks, June!
