Crystal River is home to beautiful fresh water springs, a large variety of wildlife, and or course our most famous residents - West Indian Manatees. During the Summer months, the Bay holds approximately 75 to 80 resident manatees.

Each winter between 700 and 1000 manatees migrate here seeking out our three first magnitude spring systems, each with a constant temperature of 72° to 74° F (23° C). Even in the warm summer months, Crystal River has a local population of 70-100 manatees that remain here year round. Due to efforts by many local, state and federal entities, our manatee population is thriving. We feel that an in-water swim experience is an important part of this education and conservation effort. Our team of highly trained in-water guides ensure your experience with this cherished and threatened species is handled with the utmost care and respect by encouraging passive observation.

With only 6 passengers per boat you are guaranteed a special small group interaction.

Crystal River is the manatee capital of the world, and we are fortunate enough to be the only place where you can have the unique experience of swimming with these gentle giants in their own natural habitat! Once you arrive at Salty Siren Tours the adventure begins! After checking in, you will be fitted with one of our high quality wetsuits. (All required gear is included in the cost of your charter.) From there, you'll meet your in-water guide and photographer who will discuss your upcoming manatee interaction and answer any questions you may have. After we explain passive observation and how to properly interact in the water with our precious manatees, we will transport you to our departure location in our comfortable 15 passenger van. From there you will board your immaculately clean tour vessel for the experience of a lifetime! During your trip your guide will escort you to passively observe and these majestic mammals. We also take underwater photos of your trip (which can be purchased for an additional fee) so you can share the manatee love! CANCELLATION POLICY: 50% Refund if cancelled within 7 days of travel, non-refundable if cancelled within 72 hours of travel.

We loved this! Tyler was our guide and photographer and Randy was our boat captain. Both of them were awesome! We would recommend this tour and company 100%.

My husband and I came to Crystal River specifically to snorkel with manatees. Salty Siren came highly recommended online. We booked tours for 2 days and had such a great time! Tyler was our guide on the first day. The visibility wasn't stellar, but he found manatees everywhere💜 Aubrie was our guide the second day, and she was wonderful! We came out of the water to warm drinks and warm boats, which is a great touch. I was so worried about being cold, but I was pleasantly surprised. Both of our guides' photos/videos were fabulous and something we will cherish 😍 My husband and I both also appreciate the small group size (6 max) at Salty Siren. I think something would be lost from the experience being in a larger group tour. We will definitely be referring our friends to Salty Siren.

We loved this outing with our guide Aubrey. We were lucky enough to be alone on the boat with her is our Captain Ed. Both very professional and conscientious. We have good a 15th of manatees in all, on 2 different spots. The boat ride was itself very pleasant. We were offered cakes and hot drinks. We appreciated more than anything their respect for animals that did not prevent us from seeing them up close without disturbing them. Finally, the quality of the Drone and GoPro images made by the team is worth it to leave with a beautiful souvenir at 39€. I would recommend Salty Siren without hesitation!

This was amazing!! I can’t believe how MANY manatees we swam with. We learned so much about all the local wildlife, thanks to Tyler… who seems to know every fact possible about manatees. The pictures were spectacular. Randy and Tyler were fun and knowledgeable. Simply fantastic. Thank you, Salty Siren

Wow. What an incredible experience with a super knowledgeable and fun crew! We were surrounded by manatees and their adorable calves throughout our entire adventure and Tyler and Randy were fantastic. 10/10!

This was an amazing experience for my family and I! We went out with Captain Randy and Ed as well as with our tour guide Aubrie who were all spectacular. Would definitely recommend to everyone for a fun day of manatee adventures! Also the hot chocolate/coffee was spectacular when it was time to warm back up on the boat!

It is hard to imagine a better tour than this. This operation is top notch. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was thought of. Friendly check-in, excellent predeparture talk, great equipment (they even have very large wetsuits (at least up to 3x womens and it looked like there were bigger sizes), which was a concern before going). Our Captain, Ed, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He kept in constant contact with other captains and used his drone to spot manatees. We came at the very beginning of the season and still managed to get in the water with multiple manatees at multiple spots! Our guide, Aubrie, was amazing. Again, super friendly and knowlegeable. She led us right to the manatees so we had the most time with them. She also turned out to be an excellent photographer and we ended up with some super cute pictures and videos! The aerial shots from the drone were great too. Definitely get the photo package! So reasonable and 100% worth it. At the end of the trip Aubrie made us hot drinks (including her first Manatee Mocha, yum!). Then they turned on the heater in the enclosed cabin and we were all back to toasty warm by the time we got back. As an added bonus we saw 2 bald eagles in a tree right near the dock! Once back at the shop, we changed in the changing rooms, viewed our amazing photos, and purchased the photo package. We were able to leave the well-deserved tip using a credit card (again something I had worried about because I don't carry much cash). I cannot reccomend the Salty Siren enough! If you have the opportunity to do this, do it! We got up super early and drove the hour and 40 minites from Orlando, and it was totally worth it. I would say it is a once in a lifetime experience, but we had such a good time we will definitely try to do it again someday!
