Tikal
Tikal It is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. It is located in the archaeological region of the Petén Basin in what is now northern Guatemala. At your arrival to the park we will meet with our local guide and expert in the área to start the walking through the jungle to admire the many species of local flora and fauna. Here, discover the impressive splendor of Tikal, which means “place of voices”. The park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, spans 576km squared. Continue to The Major Plaza of the Archaeological Park of Tikal, surrounded by impressive buildings such as Temples I and II, called the North and Central Acropolis. Also, there is a range of wakes and altars that play a part of the dynamic history of the Mayan Civilization in Tikal. The Temple of the Grand Jaguar (Temple I) and the Temple of the Masks (Temple II) loom like a pair of colossal bookends on opposite sides of the Great Plaza, a vast expanse ringed by terraces, palaces and ball courts. Temple I rise some 50 meters above the plaza's eastern end. A stone stairway leads up the pyramid's nine tiers, corresponding to the nine levels of the Mayan underworld. The central part of the ancient city alone contains 3,000 buildings and covers about 16 square kilometers. Tikal is also part of the one-million-hectare Maya Biosphere Reserve created in 1990 to protect the dense forests of the Petén. At the end of our adventure through the jungle we will have time for lunch (Included).

3.00The people in charge of the transfer left before the indicated time and did not wait for me, they wanted me to move to a place whose distance was too far away, almost reaching the Tikal park.

5.00Great trip and a great workout for the legs. The restaurant for lunch was good and there was more food and drink for purchase inside the park than expected.

5.00Our guide Beni was amazing! We had a fantastic time and he was so informative. One of the best tours I’ve taken around the world, no joke. Our driver Oscar was wonderful as well and they a great job coordinating the tour.

5.00What an amazing tour! Luis, our guide, was so knowledgeable and enhanced our experience. Plus, he took us to all the places where we could take spectacular photos of all the pyramids. You’re definitely in lucky if you get him. Our bus was clean and had a/c. The food was okay.

5.00We were planning to go to Tikal on our own but after reading reviews, decided to hire a guide. We are so happy we decided to. Our guide Eddie really made our visit enjoyable. He is so knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. We learned so much that enhanced the experience. Eddie was patient and encouraged questions. The bus was clean, comfortable, and air conditioned and our driver Jason handled the roads with ease. This was the highlight of our Guatemala trip and we will definitely book with Grey Line again.

5.00The tour was very good. We were picked up on time and given ample time to roam about on our own. The tour guide Eddy was very knowledgeable and was very clear when communicating with the group. The only problem was that in trying to get in contact with the tour company via their website and email address they were unresponsive and I had to call to confirm pick up place and time.

5.00Very good experience. We had trouble with the flight (contracted part of the excursion) and waited until we arrived. The guide was great, very attentive and really had great knowledge of the place. Tikal itself, is an impressive place. It made us a fantastic day.

5.00We were picked up right on time at a hotel near ours in Flores. Our guide, Erdo, was excellent. He spoke flawless English and gave us every cultural and natural detail we could ever want. His knowledge of birds and plants was encyclopedic. His time planning was perfect, and we stayed on schedule while enjoying climbs up many temples as well as lunch. The jungle was magical. This is a treasured memory!
