This day trip to Zaanse Schans and Giethoorn offers free hotel pick-up service in Amsterdam. This unique tour has maximum 8 persons* per group, so we can have full focus on each individual traveller. A luxury and comforable mini van (Mecedes brand) will wait for you in front of your hotel. A bottled water will be provided to each traveller. Power bank, umbrella are provided and free to use during whole trip.

In the morning, you would visit a Dutch cheese factory, a wooden shoe factory and enjoy a royal diamond demonstration at Zaanse Schans; After that we will travel to Giethoorn, you would discover the 'Green Venice' of Holland and enjoy one hour free boat cruise in Giethoorn.

This trip is suitable for the travellers who want to spend more time in two places. This 10 hours experience gives you a relaxed, memorable and enjoyable tour with lots of beautiful photos. *Please note: at the peak season, we might combine two groups together, but we will contact you in advance about this.

Zaanse Schans

At Zaanse Schans, the natural windmill village, you would first have a private guided Dutch cheese factory tour, to know how to make Gouda cheese in the traditional way. You could taste more than 26 different flavors of cheese. After that, you will visit a Dutch wooden shoes factory, over here you would watch a live demonstration of making wooden shoes by a traditional clog maker. After that you would have a private Royal Amsterdam Diamond tour, to know the history of diamond, and enjoy the 'Royal Lady' diamond with 268 facets. Of course you would have your own free time to get close to the windmills and take a lot of photos.

Catharina Hoeve Cheese Farm

This attraction is the first stop at Zaanse Schans. As described above, you would experience this old cheese farm/factory, to have a private demonstration to understand how to make traditional Dutch cheese, get to know the history of this cheese farm, and cheese tasting with more than 26 different flavors.

Tour and guide were great. The people who handle the reservations were rude and nasty. One person threatened me that if we were no at the new meeting point by 7:50 the driver would leave without us. I saved the email to show my travel agent. Will never use viator in Europe again.

Our tour with Leidse was very great. He created a very welcoming environment for all the guests attending the tour to get to know each other. He shared a lot of fun facts and history with us during the tour. Leidse was also very patient with everyone’s need and made sure all the guest felt included during the tour. This tour is definitely one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam!

Thanks to Reinier for being a very helpful driver and guide, he was very communicative and easy-going. He displayed a high level of knowledge about the historical context throughout the tour and provided an overall enjoyable experience for our first time in Netherlands. At the end he shared his favourite food places which we really appreciate and will use. Thanks Reinier :)

Kun (our guide/driver) was great at communicating when and where he was meeting us. The car was comfortable - Kun was well informed, shared a lot of history and stories has a great sense of humor. Seeing the windmills- cheese making and wooden shoe creation were unique Netherlands experiences. This was an excellent activity.

The whole day was seamless. Three locations packed in one day but we didn’t feel tired or rushed at all. Our guide Kai was friendly and helpful. He shared lots of interesting info along the way. I would highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide, Eric was very efficient and very knowledgeable. Got to watch the wooden shoes and cheese making. And how to operate the windmills. Afterwords, you have enough time to explore both towns and get your souvenirs. Highly recommended.

Beautiful experience, well organized tour, good guide that allows you to live the places calmly. At each stop you will have an explanation that allows you to understand the culture and work of the place. I recommend it.

Our guide Leidse was a joy to be around. Not only did he have great knowledge of all the places, he also knew how to ride a boat! The small open boat that we got to ride on in Giethoorn was spectacular and was definitely better than the big boats with the roofs since those had lots of people riding at once. Thank you for the great experience Leidse!

Wonderful day trip away from Amsterdam! Eric guided us through Zaanse Schans and Giethoorn with great expertise. Moving our small group from one activity to the next but without ever feeling rushed. The unexpected treat was the dike. Eric easily answered questions, provided interesting information and was one of the best guides/drivers we’ve had.
