Tour through the center of Athens focused on the ancient athenian Academy, the place that the teachings and studies of the greatest philosophers of the world took place.     What a great way to finish our vacation! Our day started with a pickup from our driver and guide, George, from the cruise port. He then spent the entire day showing us numerous archaeological and historical sites around the city. It was a great mix of both ancient and recent history throughout the city and he spent so much time explaining the cultural significance of each place we stopped or visited. He also gave us plenty of free time to meander around locations such as Zeus’ Temple or the Parthenon, so we didn’t feel rushed at any time during the day. We also were allowed to stop at any time during the day for food or restroom breaks if they were needed. This was easily the best tour we experienced during our trip. George was an absolutely wonderful guide and showed us things in Athens that we likely wouldn’t have seen had we been on a group tour of the sites. And because this tour was private, we had an air conditioned van all to ourselves throughout the day - so much better than jamming into a bus with 40 other strangers. The one real plus for this tour was the communication. Both the company and driver were constantly in touch with us via both phone and WhatsApp both prior to and during the pickup, so we knew who to look for, where to go, what tickets to buy ahead of time, etc. This is something that definitely set them apart from the other four guides we had hired at other locations on our trip and makes it so easy for foreigners who are visiting a new city for the first time. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Our many thanks for a great day!
