Province of Modena
We’ll start this incredible journey with an early pick up (around 7:00am) in Bologna with our private minivan or minibus to head to the countryside between Modena and Bologna. Why so early? Parmigiano Reggiano doesn’t wait! It’s made only in the early morning and we want you to get in action ASAP! We will see the cheesemakers taking care of all the production steps right before your eyes. You can touch the creamy curd, taste the cooked cheese and get absolutely stunned by the warehouse, where thousands of wheels all around you wait at least 12 months to be “baptized” as Parmigiano Reggiano. Time to taste it, what’d you expect? Young or aged, creamy or crunchy, delicate or intense: you can decide which of the 2 different-age samples is your favorite… or just love them both!
Monteveglio
Third and last excellence to meet: meat (pun intended)! Prosciutto Factory Montevecchio’s products will conquer your palate with its fragrant smell, buttery texture and delicate savoriness. We’ll learn about the strict regulations, the long curing process, and the tremendous care necessary to transform only 2 ingredients into a typical product with unique characteristics. We’ll taste its wholesomeness and genuineness with other local charcuteries and a glass of Lambrusco, before a proper lunch is served!

Wow, if we could give it a 100 we would. What an experience. Learning so much on the three tours and our guide Elenora was Wonderful. Breakfast was amazing and fun and very yummy. Lunch was an experience we will talk about for a long time. Fantastic food (lots of it), flowing wine and water and an Outstanding host with entertainment. What a day. Thank you for being one of the highlights (if not the best one) for our memories of Bologna.

Bellissimo! The tour guide (Alexander) was excellent! The bus driver, Roberta, was not only great, but a fantastic singer and dancer. What a great tour! Plenty of time to ask questions and experience the process of seeing how some of the best foods are made. The factory personnel greeted us as well, which is not something you see every day.

Grazie di cuore per l’esperienza squisita! Honestly, we booked three severely disappointing tours in Milan and Bologna and my impression was suboptimal for my first time in the area. I felt dejected because we only have limited vacation time. You, your team, and your expertly curated tour of Gioia Italiana enhanced with authentic food and wine sincerely saved our entire trip to Italy this time. It will be quite unforgettable in the best ways. The guide Alessandro Martini’s expertise, passion and commitment to authenticity, coupled with copious vino, formaggio, prosciutto nazionale DOP, and Modena DOP vinegar, and super positive energy elevated our entire trip from “meh” to a very satisfying excellent. Grazie mille ancora!

Where to begin...My wife and I are avid travelers and all we can say is "WOW!!!!". If you don't walk away from this experience truly appreciating the passion that Alessandro and his family have for Italian food and life you may be a lost cause. Alessandro's energy is infectious, and it is immediately obvious that he is extremely knowledgeable about the food, wine, history and people of the area. His stories about his family and culinary experiences are very entertaining! Visiting the cheese farm and balsamic vinegar production facility far exceeded any expectations, and the family style meals were exceptional. If you have any reservations about booking, please ignore them completely and book before the tour sells out! Grazie to all the wonderful people that made this one of the most memorable, enjoyable and fun tours we have ever taken. Grazie mille, Alessandro!! As a side note: Go hungry and try not to eat breakfast before you go on the tour... The food and wine are wonderful and endless!!! 🍷🍖🧀🍝 Matt and Lydia Rowe (Philadelphia, PA, USA)

What an incredible day. Alessandro is pretty much the best tour host I have ever had. I learned a tonne and had fun doing it. The lunch after the tour is epic, and a total blast. 50/10 would recommend!
