What's included:
- FACTORY/PRODUCTION SITES TOUR
– Pick up at 7am at in central Bologna (no later pick up available)
– Guided tour with English speaking guide
– Transfer in comfortable minivan or minibus
- Generose tastings of all products, breakfast with wine and coffee and multicourse italian-style lunch included
– Please notify us with your diet requirements (vegetarian, gluten or lactose free menu available) AT LEAST 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE
or we won't be able to cater for you.
Guests joining from outside Bologna can contact us to arrange for a different meeting point if driving.

We’ll start this incredible journey with an early pick up (around 7:00am) in Bologna with our private minivan or minibus to head to the countryside between Modena and Bologna. Why so early? Parmigiano Reggiano doesn’t wait! It’s made only in the early morning and we want you to get in action ASAP! We will see the cheesemakers taking care of all the production steps right before your eyes. You can touch the creamy curd, taste the cooked cheese and get absolutely stunned by the warehouse, where thousands of wheels all around you wait at least 12 months to be “baptized” as Parmigiano Reggiano. Time to taste it, what’d you expect? Young or aged, creamy or crunchy, delicate or intense: you can decide which of the 2 different-age samples is your favorite… or just love them both!

Third and last excellence to meet: meat (pun intended)! Prosciutto Factory Montevecchio’s products will conquer your palate with its fragrant smell, buttery texture and delicate savoriness. We’ll learn about the strict regulations, the long curing process, and the tremendous care necessary to transform only 2 ingredients into a typical product with unique characteristics. We’ll taste its wholesomeness and genuineness with other local charcuteries and a glass of Lambrusco, before a proper lunch is served!

5.00I could not agree more with other reviewers about their universal praise for this tour in all ways from the producers themselves, to the food and wine we tasted, to the extraordinary hospitality we received from Alessandro and Roberta in particular. But there was another element to this. For me this tour was a must from the moment I read Matt Goulding’s ‘Pasta, Pane, Vino’ billed as ‘deep travels through Italy’s food culture’. It introduces Alessandro, Emilia Romagna and this tour. The latter is a window into what this book does in immersing you in Italian slow food traditions and culture for the day. It is outstanding. I would repeat this tomorrow in a heartbeat if I was not now so far away. Grazie mille!

5.00Outstanding food tour. All of the stops were fantastic and Elenor was a wonderful guide and so knowledgeable of the processes involved in the making of parmesan, Balsamic vinegar and prosciutto as well as the history of Modena. Loved the lunch, and they were so very generous with the amount of food and wine. Our driver was lovely and so friendly. Loved all of it!

4.00Very convenient to the station and not far from the center. Surely the aspect we appreciated the most was the kindness of the staff. We also greatly appreciated the focus on sustainability and hope that new improvements will be made to the trend.

5.00Great day enjoyed by all. Vincenzo, Alessandro & the girls at the restaurant were lovely. Alessandro was extremely knowledgeable about all the factories we visited. Food kept coming for lunch and ended up having a dance by the end. Great day and highly recommend.

5.00I have to say hands down this was the best day ever. It is worth the price and then some. We were taken care of by two wonderful women, one drove the bus and the other gave all the information at each location. We started at a Parmesan Reggiano factory to see the entire process of how it is made, next we went to learn about balsamic vinegar production. It was a charming family run business where we proceeded to be fed a beautiful breakfast of focaccia. Parmesan, sweet cakes and of course a balsamic tasting. The amount of food was impressive as well as all the knowledge that was shared about their craft. We then went to the prosciutto di Parma factory . All three places were so fun to see and experience . The last part of the tour was the lunch . It was absolutely amazing! We sat down to a table filled with appetizers, then came four different pasta courses and lastly a truffle risotto. Each course also came with a different wine . Dessert to end. Our tour guide and driver served and we all just had an incredible experience. They also played music and sang for us. It was the most fun on a tour I ever had! As a side note , I have Celiac disease and let them know in advance and I had the gluten free version of everything everyone else was eating. I have never been more over fed, over poured, or overjoyed!! Please take this tour the name of the company was called Italian Days through Viator. You won’t be disappointed.
