My wife and I had a lovely tour yesterday with Stevie and a small group of others. Stevie is a terrific guide with a wealth of knowledge the springs with their remarkably clear water, the area and its history, and the stories of the wildlife that call it all home. If we had one thing to advise anyone considering this tour it is to remember that the wildlife lives according to their own schedules and timing so you may or may not get so see them, depending on time of day and season of the year. From what I understand, November through March are the best times to see manatee in the springs because this is when they want to come into the warmer waters when the ocean is cooler. And, of course, the smaller population that hangs around in the springs during the summer can be hard to spot because they take long breaths and a tour can only last so long or cover so much of the water. We had a great time, really enjoyed being out on the crystal clear water (really, you can probably just drink it straight from the side of the kayak!), and would gladly do it again. In fact, we immediately booked another tour for tonight with Epic. Maybe we'll get to see some dolphins!
