This morning Emilio met us on the walkway in front of the Alcazar and gave us a beautiful introduction and background history of Cordoba and the Palace of The Christian Kings. We had an interesting discussion of the early kings who lived in the Alcazar and explanation of the process of architectural restoration.. We then toured the Jewish quarter and viewed Maimonides bronze statue. Another group joined and we went on to The Mizquita and Saraya was our guide. She also gave a good historical context and explained how the mosque and cathedral within were constructed. The Great Mosque of Cordoba is really the most impressive architectural building I’ve ever seen. Despite large crowds we had a great tour, from both guides. And the long line at Mizquita moved extremely fast. In minutes we were viewing that magnificent building and hearing about its unique history. Loved both tour guides and the tours were fabulous.

Maria did the first half if the tour cafe was fabulous. Alba took over with the Mosque/Church. He was so engaging with the history and passionate with the beauty of the structure. There was so much we didn’t know that both guides provided with their backgrounds. Well worth the experience!

Alvaro our guide, who is extremely knowledgeable, was very attentive and patient with all questions we put to him. He made sure that really connect with the places we visited and gave us as many details as he could. He does his with a true passion.
