• Nice day trip to Alexandria

  Ahmed picked us up on time from our hotel and drove us to Alexandria. He drove safe and was pleasant company too. We found him to be a refreshing change from the usual pushy tour drivers and guides. Shireen was our guide for the day and she took us an across highlights of Alexandria - the catacombs, the citadel, library and the Roman amphitheater. She shared the history with us and gave us time to explore on our own as well. The weather was also pretty good and Alexandria was a nice day trip after spending time in Cairo and Luxor. Thank you!

  Driver and guide were good. Parts of the trip weren't really for me tho, but I was just trying to fill time. Guide had an issue getting the pre paid tickets and asked me to buy them on my card and she'd give me cash. This was not acceptable and lost stars as a result. Apart from that as advertised.

  The guide didn't give us information which was kinda ok as the overload of information was getting too much. but sometimes I needed her when we were looking at something but she was not around. i liked her in all.

• Nice but be-aware of the fog!

  We had to wait almost 2 hours next to the side of the highway because of fog. This made the trip feel long but the castle and catacombs were worth the long trip from Cairo. Our guide was nice but everything felt a bit rushed because of the delay. We thought we will be seeing the old library so were sad when we saw it was the newly build one (still beautiful though)!

• Bad driver experience / underwhelming attractions

  It was a total underwhelming experience. Our driver,Yasser, didn’t speak or understand English - so the entire trip to and from Alexandria was spent in silence and we would not know whether we missed any pass-by attractions. The driver smoked and the car was stinking of cigarettes. When we said that the smoking results in breathing issues to my spouse he got her a mask, but didn’t stop smoking. Enroute to the city from Cairo he stopped for a coffee and smoke break for over 30 mins. Similarly around noon. Just said 1 hour and walked off. Made me pay for included admission / tolls. The attractions in Alexandria are okay but nothing compared Luxor and Cairo. It is okay to give it a miss. It worth the 3 hours drive each way to see attractions for 2-3 hours. I have highlighted only some of the issues, but overall do not recommend the private tour to Alexandria.
