Barranco
We’ll kick things off at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC Barranco) — a peaceful, leafy spot that sets the vibe for what’s to come. Here, we’ll break the ice, give you the lowdown on the tour, and explain what makes this experience so different from any typical tourist walk. Bonus Moment: We’ll launch our first drone flight here to start capturing your journey from above — so smile, you’re about to become the star of your own travel video!

Stop 2: Emoliente – Sip an Ancestral Elixir Time to drink like the locals — and the ancestors! At this stop, we’ll try emoliente, a traditional Peruvian herbal drink packed with natural ingredients from the Andes and Amazon. It’s warm, healing, and made with a blend of herbs that showcase the incredible biodiversity of Peru. Not just a drink — it’s a potion passed down from Inca times, believed to cure everything from a cold to heartbreak. Let’s toast to your health — Peruvian style!

What an incredible experience. We were the only people in the group, so could really dictate what foods you wanted to try, and what we wanted to see. Yonathan is an incredible guide with so much knowledge of the neighborhoods and Lima culture. We stumbled into this, literally, when we saw a sticker on the sidewalk promoting the tour. We completed the form online, and in 15 minutes, we’re walking through Barranco. We have taken free, walking tours and expensive food tours in dozens of cities around the world. This was by far the most genuine and interesting.

We did this on a whim towards the end of our week in (mostly) the Barranco neighborhood, had no idea Suerco is the old “other half” of Barranco, but there seem to be a multitude of hidden gems over there. Jhonathan took us on a very informative part-walking part-riding tour of his back yard. Tried fantastic examples of local fare and prices you double take at they’re so low. Would absolutely recommend this, and do it early on in your trip so you know what to look for and when you’re paying too much!

We had such a great time on the Free Foodie Tour Barranco! We started the day with emoliente, Peru’s traditional herbal tonic — such a unique way to begin — and then a hearty breakfast of chicharrón, tamal, and strong coffee. After that, every stop felt like a hidden local gem with amazing food. The Pisco Sour masterclass was a fun extra, and the drone video was the cherry on top. Yonathan was warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel personal. Definitely recommend if you want to taste the real Lima!

If you are looking to find the real flavour of Lima away from the tourist crowds, this tour is a must do. Yohnathan is an exceptional guide, with a depth of knowledge and experience, and discusses the Peruvian history and culture along side the food. We visited a few restaurants and street food / drink places throughout the day. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

The reviews and pictures were already quite intriguing, but the tour itself was the real deal. The idea is to show the real peruvian food taste and history and that was achieved through a fun and lively guide named Jonathan. Can only recommend.

Yonathan uses the most skilled techniques and knowledge to impress you with the Peruvian cuisine. My favourite the emolientes have been a great experience that I enjoyed a lot after in my travels. Then cooking class and culture infos. It’s a lot he offers.

Incredible tour, you only pay for the food you consume and it’s all delicious. I’ve worked in a Michelin star restaurant and was very impressed. The guide, knows a lot about everything, from history and architecture to culinary heritage. I was very impressed and inspired.

We love food and were looking for a special tour off the beaten track to experience Peruvian food culture – this was it! Yonathan has designed the perfect journey through Barranco and Surco with the right amount of stops and a lot of content about food and culture. We felt constantly safe, met kind people and had the best time on our last day in Lima. Thank you!
