Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center
This tourist center designed by Kengo Kuma is not just a valuable source of sightseeing information, but one of Asakusa’s newest sightseeing attractions. This 8-story building, designed by a world famous Japanese architect, has a very striking structure with the appearance of a stack of separate wooden buildings that seem piled up on top of each other at different angles. From the open terrace Observation Deck on the 8th floor of the Center, we will have a preview of the entire tour course: not just Tokyo Sky Tree and Asahi Flame we have just seen but the landmarks we are going to see including Kaminarimon gate, Nakamise shopping street, Hozomon gate, Sensoji Temple, and more.
Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon)
When approaching Sensoji temple, visitors first enter through the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the outer gate of Sensoji Temple and the symbol of Asakusa and the entire city of Tokyo. A shopping street of over 200 meters, called Nakamise, leads from the outer gate to the temple's second gate, the Hozomon. Alongside typical Japanese souvenirs such as yukata and folding fans, various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries.

First time visiting Japan and wanted to get a feel for what to expect. Mutsuko-san was a fantastic guide. Showed us many things and places. She was fun to explore the city with and very informative about what we were seeing and doing. One us being in a wheelchair, we had concerns about navigating the subways and city but Mutsuko-san was incredible and helpful and put our worries to rest. Highly recommend her and this tour.

We were a family of four, in Tokyo for only one week and wanted to see the best sites. Our son, Jaiden, is in a wheelchair and so we needed a tour guide who understood those challenges and could help us navigate the city effectively. Eriko was a fabulous tour guide! She took us to Senju Temple and Meiji Shrine, which were amazing! Also, to Shabuya Crossing and Cat Street. We had an amazing lunch of Yakitori. All the while, she made sure that there were no accessibility challenges whatsoever. A rare find! We recommend this tour whole-heartedly!! It was our favorite day of the trip!!

I had the absolute pleasure of touring Tokyo with Narita-san as our guide, and I cannot recommend his services highly enough. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind throughout the entire experience. Narita-san tailored the tour perfectly to our interests and pace. He took us through some of the most iconic and culturally rich areas of Tokyo, including Akihabara, Shibuya, the Meiji Shrine, and the beautiful shrine in Asakusa. At every stop, he shared insights and historical context that gave each place so much more depth and meaning. He was always attentive to our needs and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. His calm and friendly demeanor made the experience not only informative but also genuinely enjoyable. If you’re visiting Tokyo and want someone who truly knows the city and cares about giving you a memorable, personalized experience, Narita-san is the guide you want. Thank you again, Narita-san!
