Liwa Oasis

First, you will be picked up from your location in Abu Dhabi city (usually from 11:30 am to 1 pm, but we offer flexible timings), followed by a 2-hour drive to the entry point to the mesmerizing Liwa desert. Next, brace yourself for an hour & a half thrilling desert drive as your skilled guide maneuvers across the towering sand dunes. If lucky, you might spot wildlife that call the desert home. Along the way, visit a camel farm and get up close & personal w/ the so-called ships of the desert. Upon reaching the oasis, sit back and immerse in its tranquil beauty as you enjoy an hour-long picnic lunch. After a blissful rest, fuel your adventurous side; try out sand boarding, feeling the breeze whizz by as you surf down steep dunes. On the way back, as the sun approaches the horizon, we will stop at a vantage point. Bask in nature's artistry, the sky brushed in crimson shades. Take photos & capture the moment. Return w/ memories to last a lifetime as you are dropped off in Abu Dhabi city.

Each moment was carefully thought out to give us an authentic experience, without losing comfort and detail.

From start to finish, this tour was exceptional. My driver and guide, Mohammed, was absolutely brilliant. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and full of insights about the region. The journey down to Liwa took over two hours, but the time flew by thanks to Mohammed’s commentary and the incredible desert scenery. Along the way, we saw camels, gazelles, desert rats, and even lizards darting through the sand. What really stood out for me was hearing the sound of the sand as we descended steep dunes in the 4x4. It was like a deep bass reverberation, almost like a plane overhead. I had never experienced anything like it before. We stopped at a date farm, which was genuinely fascinating, and the food served there was top notch. Authentic, fresh, and full of flavour. The sunset from the top of a massive dune was nothing short of spectacular. And just when I thought it could not get any better, the moon rose over the desert and we hiked up another dune to take it all in from a different perspective. Seeing the desert under moonlight was surreal. Peaceful, silent, and absolutely stunning. If you are in Abu Dhabi, do not even think twice. This is a must do tour. Highly recommended.

An unforgetable first visit to a desert. I got to experience it intimately and feel its vast quietness. The Empty Quarter is not that empty; full of changing landscapes, gazelles stirring up sand clouds, tranquil oases, camel farms… Mohammed is a thoughtful guide and he is incredibly generous with his knowledge, time, and skills. Thank you for a truly amazing adventure!

The best desert tour I‘ve ever been on. The journey takes a good two hours, but what follows makes up for everthing! With a few stops along the way, we then headed into the Rub Al Khali Desert. Deeply impressed by the high dunes and extremely fine sand, we drove up and down through the desert. He will also drive over smaller dunes and at a slower pace, if requested. Afterwards, we went to one of the Liwa Oases, where we had a barbecue in the shade of the palm trees as dusk began to fall. An impressiv landscape with camels, antelopes and birds. Even though four hours is a long way, it is worth it, and our Guide Mohammed was very friendly and told us a lot about the Landscape.

The tour is amazing! In one word perfect. I was looking for a non commercial and classical tour. And this is it! Is 2 hours and half driving from Abu Dhabi but in this way you experience the real desert! And above all we were me my husband and just an American girl in a solo travel. Mohammed, was a great driver and guide! Also he took us beautiful pictures and videos! And the food he has prepared for us was delicious! Best babaganush ever eaten! I super recommend this tour! The American girl was the fifth time doing this tour, because she loved it.

The tour is just amazing! Not the usual tour in the desert. Is something really special! With this tour you experience the real desert! And our guide Mohammed was super in everything. He is also a great photographer and video maker! But first of all a great driver! And last but not least the food was so delicious! Best babaganush ever eaten! Totally worth it and super recommended!

Visiting the Liwa Oasis and the surrounding desert is a must if you are in Abu Dhabi. The drive through the dunes was incredible. Mohammed is an extremely skilled driver and knows exactly what he is doing. He has lots of knowledge about the desert and can tell you the most interesting stories. The food was amazing and the level of service top notch. If the Empty Quarter calls your name, go have a look for yourself!
