Mount Field National Park
Mt. Field offers a variety of walks in one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks. Most famous for Russell Falls & the Tall Trees track we explore the various walks in this diverse Park which is a short 1.5 hour drive from Hobart
Russell Falls
Russell Falls is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful forest track among mixed forest and temperate rainforest species. This is Tassie’s most photographed waterfall, and we soak up the awesome view before continuing our walk. Just beyond Russell Falls we climb the stairs to Horseshoe Falls, a majestic waterfall snuggled in the forest, which some regard as even more impressive than Russell Falls!

Can't believe so much can be packed into one day while not feeling rushed. You get to see so many amazing sights on this tour. Hiking, kangaroo feedings, and amazing views. So happy this was my first experience in Tasmania. Truly a special and perfect day to start my trip.

A great and varied day. We especially enjoyed the wonderful walks through beautiful Mt Field National Park. Our guide, Ben, was very knowledgeable about geology, plants, trees, and animals and added a lot to our experience. He was also friendly, professional, and organized.

Our guide Lucas was super informed and professional. We made all the stops we needed to on time, and he accommodated the entire group very well. The hike was amazing, the wildlife sanctuary was unforgettable (kangaroos eating out of your hands!) and the overlook of the city and mountains was impressive. 10/10 recommend to get out of Hobart and see beautiful Tassie!

The tour to Mount Wellington and Mount Field was a mixed experience for me. The instructor was knowledgeable, but I found the tour a bit lacking in interaction. At Mount Field, we moved at a very fast pace, which didn’t leave much time to fully admire the stunning landscapes along the trail. While the guide did wait for us if we fell behind, I feel like dedicating an extra hour here would have made the experience so much better, it felt like we spent more time looking at the ground than at the scenery! 😅 The views were absolutely breathtaking, and we were lucky to have great weather that day. However, at the Tassie Devil Sanctuary, we couldn’t see the Tasmanian Devil at all. There wasn’t much else to see there aside from a couple of animals and the kangaroos. Overall, the tour had its highlights, but a slower pace and a bit more engagement would have made it perfect. Anyway, the views that you get to see make it all worth it!

Great tour. The Mt Field hike is about 3 hours long and has a lot of stairs in two locations. You can leave after the first couple of falls and go back to the visitor center, but at that point, we were 1/3 way through the loop and majority of the group wanted to continue. Tour guide went on full loop with us so whole group went. Great seeing it all but was too much walking for a couple of people in our group. The tour guide was fabulous and pointed out many interesting things on our hike. Fun time at the wildlife center and beautiful views from Mt. Wellington.

Enjoy the Mt. Field visit very much despite a bit of challenges in the walking trail such as climbing steps. But the view was special. Enjoy the Mt. Wellington visit with breath taking view on top. The Tassie devil visit, we got to see the little fellow, she was special and cute.

The stunning surroundings and the fabulous waterfalls in Mt Field were well worth the walk. Our tourist guide Nick was very knowledgeable and his information was very helpful. He was very polite and caring. Bonorong Sanctuary was great, and Mount Wellington is always a must to visit.
