Start your getaway in style, with a pre-night stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort (confirm a ferry transfer time that suits your travel plans). Relax on island time and enjoy full access to the resort facilities, in preparation for your two-day 4WD tour.
Led by your expert local guide, tick off all of the favourite Fraser Island locations including the crystal-clear Lake McKenzie, and the towering rainforest of Pile Valley. PLUS, uncover some of the destinations lesser known but equally spectacular spots, such as the hidden oasis of Lake Wabby.

Your accommodation will require a credit card pre-authorisation of AU$100 per day plus AU$200 refundable bond to a maximum of AU$500. In the event that no credit card is available, full payment and a bond deposit of AU$100 per day to a maximum of AU$500 is required.
Recommended for guests to bring their own front-facing infant seats. Limited child seats are available at an additional charge on request.
Please note we do not carry children under the age of 1 and no refund will be given.
Please note that Queensland law requires all guests travelling on our coaches to wear seat belts at all times, failure to do so could result in a Queensland Government fine.
The commencement of hotel pickups is approximately 2 hours prior to the departure time of the tour, you must make telephone contact with the local service provider to book the pickup and verify the exactness of your pickup time, this must be done at least 48hrs prior to the departure.

On the day of arrival, travel from River Heads on the barge crossing of your choice, arriving at Kingfisher Bay Resort on K’gari (Ferry time must be selected at time of booking). Check-in to accommodation (after 2.00pm). Swim in the emerald-green window lake and explore the only example of a barrage lake found of Fraser Island, after your trek across the shifting sands of the Hammerstone Sandblow. (Please note: this is a 4km return walk through bushland and across soft sands - a moderate fitness level is required).
Central Station Rainforest
Check-out the interp displays and discover a former logging station that was once the hub of a bustling timber industry. Walk the boardwalk paths alongside Wangoolba Creek.
Lake McKenzie
Enjoy a revitalising swim in the fresh, crystal blue water and relax on the sandy white beaches of this picture perfect perched dune lake.

Tour the sandy highway – the ‘spine of Fraser Island’, running from Hook Point to Great Sandy Cape. During this journey, take an extra opportunity to join the Air Fraser team for a scenic flight over the island.

Relax on the sandy banks, wade through the invigorating shallow waters or drift downstream – the fastest flowing creek on the island is sure to revitalise your mind, body and soul.
Maheno Ship Wreck
Learn the intriguing history of this once proud passenger liner that was washed ashore in 1935 during an out-of-season cyclone. While you’re at it, take the chance to stretch your legs and take a holiday snap with this rusting wreck.
The Pinnacles Coloured Sands - one of Fraser’s more magical locations, you will hear the Dreamtime story of how these rainbow coloured cliffs came to be.
Indian Head
Cruise past the most easterly point of the island, which is home to marine life such as turtles and rays, often spotted in the waters around the base of this rocky headland

5.00Late August we booked a 3 day getaway package with K'Gari Explorer Tours. It was the best way for us to experience K'Gari. We visited all the best spots with no stress about driving, tides, etc. It was well organised and the accommodation was great. We LOVED the 2 day tour with our Guide Keith! He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, respectfully sharing the culture of the Butchulla people throughout the trip. Throw in lots of humour, music and wonderful commentary and you have Keith! Thanks for making our trip fabulous.

5.00We had an amazing time on K’Gari, we spent the first day relaxing by the pool at Kingfisher Resort. We were then picked up by Dave D for a fantastic 2 day tour. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and gave us an amazing 2 day experience. All the food was excellent and we visited beautiful areas. The whales and dingo’s appeared for us. There is some strenuous walking but if you don’t want to do it you don’t have to. The organisation was excellent. Thanks for an amazing 3 days.

5.00Had such a fantastic time during my stay at Fraser Island. Our tour guide, John, was full of knowledge about the island and made the trip really enjoyable. Everything is very well organised and he made sure we saw the best spots including McKenzie lake, the champagne pools and we learnt loads of interesting facts about the biodiversity of the island. Defs would recommend!

5.00Today we did the Beauty Spot 4wd Tour, it was excellent, exceeded our expectations. But I think it was mostly due to our driver/guide - Jeff, he is a very experienced driver & was perfect fit for this tour. He made the day for sure & we had stunning weather.
Wonderful time exploring K’Gari with Andy, our expert guide and driver.

5.003 day tour of Kgari, with a night at Kingfisher Bay and the Beach resort. Andy, our fabulous guide and driver, made the trip for us. He was knowledgeable, passionate about the island and looked after the tour group brilliantly. He struck exactly the right balance between giving us enough time to enjoy each location and moving us on to ensure we could see all the sights of the island. Food, accommodation, Andy’s commentary and the intinery were all top notch. Great memories from our trip.

5.00Dave our guide was a star from start to finish and made the whole tour worth it! His knowledge of the island, safety and hospitality went above and beyond. He timed our trips so that we missed big crowds and managed to see the real beauty of the island. The itinerary was excellent with enough time to really relax and enjoy each area but without the days being too long. We booked in for the extra nights accomodation at Kingfisher Bay Resort before starting the tour and I probably wouldn't book this again to be honest. Firstly - no Dave at this bit! Secondly the accomodation was worse for wear, the staff were stressed and ungracious, the shuttle transfer was a nightmare in the rain. Overall we are so glad we visited Fraser island. After a rocky first evening, the rest of the tour was completely magical and a standout from our time in Queensland.
Amazing tour and guide! Hotel and luxury for only a little more than the price of camping!

5.00Couple in their late 20s here! We were trying to decide between the camping/4x4 tag along tour and this tour and I am so glad we went on this tour, though I had worried it wouldn’t be as fun at first - I was so wrong we had the best time! The hotel stays are lovely, the 4x4 bus is an awesome experience and Hayden our guide was incredible and so, so knowledgeable. With 18 years experience in the job I can’t think of a better tour guide. Came away with amazing memories and felt like we’d fully seen the island, never feeling rushed. The tour starts on the 2nd day so if your budget is tight the 1st night at kingfisher bay is a bit of a luxury not a necessity, but I will say the sunset and relaxation we had from the extra time on k’gari was so, so worth it. Absolutely recommend K’gari explorer tours, but book direct with them and cut out any middle men cause backpacker deals made booking a whole faff :)
