Thjorsardalur Valley
Þjórsárdalur is one of the hidden treasures of Iceland, a beautiful valley full of amazing natural attractions. Traversed by Þjórsá river – the longest one in Iceland, the area is lush with vegetation and offers a landscape of sharp contrasts such as flourishing birch woods, sandy lava fields, surprising rock formations, rivers and numerous picturesque waterfalls. The valley is quite flattened and covered by pumice after the repeated eruptions of the famous volcano Mt. Hekla which is nearby. Landgræðsla Ríkisins (the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland) continue to conduct extensive soil reclamation (with trees, lupins and other plants) and the place is now listed as a National Forest. You will be amazed by the unforgettable scenery of this green valley with the Mt. Hekla in the background.
Hjalparfoss
We continue our journey to the astonishing waterfall Hjálparfoss. The name of this place can be roughly translated “Help” and comes from the earlier times when travelers, who crossed Sprengisandur highlands road, found great aid in reaching the water and lush vegetated area to graze their horses after their long journey over the desert. Hjálparfoss is a two-stepped waterfall, split over two separate flumes that joins at its base into a large plunge pool. You can take an easy descending walking path with long steps to join viewing platforms and get close to the shore of the wide pool. The waterfall is framed by beautiful basalt formations and lava structures which are a remnant of various eruptions from Mt. Hekla. It creates a nice contrast to the white water stream.

5.00Adam, our driver guide, and owner of Try Iceland Tours, was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and passionate about Iceland. We did the Landmannalaugar Super Jeep tour and enjoyed every moment! A long day of 13 hours but Adam surprised us with many interesting stops along the way! Sensational scenery at every “bend in the road”! Thankyou Adam

5.00We had an outstanding day with Adam on our visit to Landmannalaugar. We had four full days planned and were debating how to spend our 5th full day and are all very glad we picked this tour. It was very different than everything else we saw and you can only reach this part of Iceland about 3 months each year. I picked the tour with Try Iceland versus the other 1-day tours because it seemed like you got to see a lot more along the way to/from Landmannalaugar than the other tours and we were not disappointed. Adam made so many stops at gorgeous waterfalls, crater lakes, areas that looked like Mars, etc. It was a long day but a fantastic one. Adam was such a delight too - so knowledgeable and just so nice! His jeep had Wifi too.

5.00My husband and I joined a small group tour of the Highlands and Landmannalaugar. Adam is an incredible tour guide, I would not take a tour of Iceland any other way. He takes you to spots he knows of where the giant tour groups don't go. It's the first nature tour I've had where I felt like I was actually seeing something without a swarm of people. He really let's you drive the pace of the day. At one point he even drove us around looking for a place to buy towels for the hotspring! He's got great stories to tell and has collected an incredible amount of Icelandic knowledge in his time here. Choose Try Iceland!

5.00"Landmannalaugar by Super Jeep" by Try Iceland was a highlight of our Iceland vacation. Their itinerary was the best: we stopped at 3 crater lakes, 3 waterfalls, and spent 3.5 hours at Landmannalaugar itself. We had enough time there to take a 3-mile hike through lava fields, past fumaroles, enjoying fantastically colorful mountains, and at the end, enjoy a dip in the Landmannalaugar hot springs. We booked our excursion on tryiceland.com and we couldn't ask for a better experience: they were very responsive and clearly communicated the prices and schedule. There was no problem when we asked to be picked up at a hotel in Selfoss on their way to the highlands. Our driver & guide, Adam, was very friendly, went out of his way to make sure that everybody was comfortable and answered countless questions not only about our trip, but about life in Iceland in general. When other jeeps stop at the bottom of the Ljótipollur crater to let their clients take a hike, Adam in his jeep drove a 2 km bumpy trail to the top of the crater: he was the only one parking there. I highly recommend choosing Try Iceland for your excursion to Landmannalaugar.

5.00Amazing tour! The best views we saw in iceland. Adam, the driver, is a super nice guy, very safe driving thought the roads of highlands. Incredible tour, recommend to anyone looking to see diferent landscapes than the usual spots in iceland.

1.00The tour was ok, we saw some beautiful sites but the actual colors of Landmannalaugar were sadly under the snow. The problem was that we were charged double for this tour. I believe this was a glitch on their website or booking system but we were charged twice. Despite multiple calls and emails, Try Iceland refused to refund the overcharge. They blamed the "tour operator" but as it was the Try Iceland site that caused the over charge I don't know why they would put the refund on the driver. Sadly, I can't recommend Try Iceland Tours.

3.00Very scenic landscape traveled with guide / driver Adam it was great. We were split up and my wife ended up sitting in rear seats that she had to get behind me and it was uncomfortable getting in and out. Other option was to sit on hump middle seat also not comfortable. Thus is the reason for my 3*** review
