Put on the light version of haori (Japanese kimono-style jacket) provided by the crew to protect your clothes from accidental stains. Sit down, have some tea or juice (variety of soft drinks available) and learn the cultural aspects and history behind Japanese knives and swords from friendly Japanese master. Choose the type of the blade you`d love to sharpen this time (up to 5 types of knives available, some of them are for a small additional charge) and the size of the knife. Sharpen the blade and become a master of a meditative process which takes a lot of concentration and perfectly relieves stress. Several english-speaking crew members are always there to sustain an intimate chat and correct the movements. You`ll get an opportunity to engage into friendly conversations with natives while polishing your knife making skills and getting a personalized advice. Engrave your name in Japanese letters on the handle and attach it usung a traditional hammer to make the work of art complete. If you decide to come with a friend or family member to observe the experience (not participate in it), we will kindly ask to pay an observation fee on site.

Flawless experience end to end. The instructors ran a safe, well-structured workshop and coached us through every step: shaping, sharpening, and engraving our names in Japanese on the handle. Tools and materials were high quality, the pace was calm, the workspace spotless, and the guidance clear enough that my finished knife looks professional, not like a souvenir. Excellent Asakusa location and an ideal indoor activity. If you enjoy cooking, craftsmanship, or just want a unique keepsake from Tokyo, this is a must-do. Strongly recommended.

A great experience. So well run. We learned such lot and the staff were professional but great fun. We learned about knives then did the sharpening , engraving and attached the handle . All supervised and checked but the staff. I would recommend it.

Awesome experience! You pick from the 3 different types and knives and go through the sharpening process and then get to customize your handle. Some of the knives are extra but we opted for the one that came with the experience. The instructors were both very engaging with the group and you could tell they were really passionate about the process! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to have a great (and useful) souvenir to bring home with you!

Super fun and interactive experience where you get to learn about knife styles and how to sharpen a knife with a whetstone. The staff were super friendly and social, and they help you with every step of the way with honing your knife.

Everyone was very welcoming and funny and made it a very wonderful experience. We came during Halloween and got the upgraded knife for wearing a costume. It was a lot of fun and super interactive. If anyone needed help with anything, we were assisted right away.
